From rock bottom to the top

Post by Dannicus »

El Capitan 7/2
I threw every topwater and mid-column lure I own and got nary a nibble....zip...nada....nuttin. I switched to the bottom and zing bada bing! Senkos, jigs, Roboworms, if I had it, I threw it and they ate it! And they didn't give a rat's bass about color either, it all worked. I ended up with 8 fish on the day.

Otay 7/3
The topwater bite this morning was the best I've seen in years! Got 11 bass on walking baits, poppers, and even one frog fish thrown in for fun. After the top bite slowed, I switched to a small crankbait and added three more bass and 2 humongous bluegill. What an awesome morning.

It had to be hot as heck out there as I was doing some yard work this morning and stopped early as the heat
was so bad I was worried it might have end my future bass fishing adventures forever......you are a stud @Dannicus !
Glad to see you are out there having fun.
I posted something from one of your fishing spots in General fishing this morning.
You may recognize this boat ramp....ha ha :-)

I saw you out there at Otay this morning. I was on shore throwing flies for a bit before work.

I think I saw you! That was after the topwater slowed a bit I think. How did you fare?

Not too good. I had some small bass and bluegill go for my fly, but nothing stuck. I only had an hour to work with and it was my first time fly fishing freshwater locally in a LONG time.

I haven't fly fished since I left Colorado (where are grew up) back in 1982. I've often thought about taking it up again.
