El Nino

Post by Gotfish? »

Things are shaping up to be an El Nino year, maybe even a super El Nino. Could be an amazing year.

Wouldn't mind catching a wahoo in local waters, like a 10X barracuda.

My buddy got one this side of the border in 2015. That was the last time I think there were enough around that guys were targeting them with Marauders. How about dorado at the local kelp, it’s happened before.

In 2022 I was catching dorado 3 miles outside of MB jetty and that wasn't even an El Nino~ year. Was funny watching people drive 12 miles offshore to catch them when they were so close. It being an actual El Nino is still a ways out but I wouldn't mind catching more yellowfin tuna close to home again

Water temperatures are up 14.2F at one Peruvian city, see https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/ ... ng-winter/ .

El Nino effects are much more intense in Peru than here.

A super El Nino generally means the ocean temperature in the eastern equatorial Pacific rises by 2 deg C or more. Never heard of a definition of a super super event.
