6/20-Murray, Me and McFish?
As I arrived at Murray, a guy towing a bass boat was leaving as there was no way to launch a bass boat now as the water level to the end of the boat ramp is now just a few feet. I started to unload my kayak quickly and low and behold who pulls up right behind me....@McFish. I told him the lake was closed but he was too smart for that as he started to unload his float tube. It was nice and overcast as I pointed out where I think there might be some bass on the surface and he had a different area to hit first so we ventured towards that area and a few bass started to bust here and there. There are 2 rules of thumb that I have used: Either wait until something busts the surface and try to cast over to it or just fan casting the area. Since the bass were not busting that frequently, fan casting the area seemed the best choice as @Mcfish quickly hooked up on a bass. Then it was my turn, and then his turn.. and then my turn again. Unfortunately when the sun broke through the action slowed down but we were able to pull in a few bass here and there. We both threw reaction baits mostly and after missing or having at least a half a dozen bass come unbuttoned, I was able to land 9 bass and @Mcfish I believe had 7 fish(6 bass and a trout).
The worm bite for me has not been good lately, as it seems like most of the bass are after shad. If the worm bite was on, @McFish would have probably caught at least a dozen more bass in the areas he worked worms as I have seen him do it before.
Anyway, It was fun being both out there catching fish and chatting about fishing all morning long....especially since @Mcfish was a captive audience....I mean how could he get away in a float tube anyway while I have the advantage of having pedals and a motor in my kayak...ha ha
Nice fishing with you buddy.
A few pics...
If Vinny goes over there, I can go there.... My healthiest Lots of shad in this belly.. McFish misleading the only other angler on how
he caught bass near the buoy line on a Banjo Minnow.

I now know what I need to keep in my boat and tube whenever there's a chance I'll be fishing around Mr. Vinnybass...ear plugs! No human being can physically talk that much! Actually, it's always a fun time fishing with the Vinnmiester. I started the day with action on top, landing 3 and missing a couple...and then the sun came out..pattern gone! I went to a reaction bait for another bass and a trout, then switched to my reliable dropshot for a couple more. Thought I would add on a bunch more..no such luck..a strange day! I don't think the bass liked the 10' water drop this week! Never miss a chance to fish with Vinny, you'll get an education in how many baits it's possible to fish in one day.....!!!

Had to take those pics of him from a distance is the key as you already probably know. I do not have a kayak built for two.otaymichael wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 11:02 pm I see McFishes fish are a lot bigger when he photographs them, instead of Vinny!!!

So I take it you didn't go to San V on Monday, since you were at Murray on Tuesday? I looked for you out there on Monday.
Caught a nice one on the frog and couple of dinks.
I'll be back out there this Monday. Hope to see you.

Glad you guys had a fun day with almost no one else on the water at Murray. Surprised they let Murray get so low that you can't launch boats. Guess I'll have to continue at San V, at least until the water level comes DOWN at Sutherland. Thanks for the report you guys!!

Re: 6/20-Murray, Me and McFish?
What??? I got some bad info from KUSI on Sunday...they said the City Lakes were all going to be closed on the holiday, and they continued to say that all day Monday. I see a lawsuit in their future..or I'll send Vinny and his "little friends" to pay them a little visit! Good to see you got on the fish, was anybody else there?RamonaAngler wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 5:26 amSo I take it you didn't go to San V on Monday, since you were at Murray on Tuesday? Do you think the ramp is still usable with a float tube? Would like to fish there tomorrow. Thursday

That's very iffy! The water is only about 4' from the edge of the ramp and a maybe a foot deep. At the end of the ramp are bowling ball size rocks that are slimy and slippery. Unfortunately I think the water is still dropping!

Re: 6/20-Murray, Me and McFish?
Maybe I'm missing something here but you don't need a ramp for a float tube.

Re: 6/20-Murray, Me and McFish?
Correct...but with the water level dropping so fast, there's lots of mud and slimy rocks around the lake..alot easier to launch from the ramp... when it's in the water!Fisheromen wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 9:29 amMaybe I'm missing something here but you don't need a ramp for a float tube.

Re: 6/20-Murray, Me and McFish?
@kirkboat.....I just went over to Murray for you to take a few pics of the ramp this morning for you to get a better idea of what to expect.
The water has gone down each day and there is maybe 4 feet of water at this moment before the end of the ramp and the rocks.
That can change as I mentioned the water is still going down.....but hopefully there will be at lest 2-3 feet of water left on the
ramp. Hope this helps.
