It is a Superman leap in quality and sensitivity from what I am used to, for sure.

The MBR is living up to its rep as a versatile rod. Been catching with jigs, t-rig, even a jerk bait. I'm gonna try a shallow crank and weightless senko next outing, just to see how it handles them.
At this point, if I could delete this thread, I probably would haha.

That was my main curiosity, it’s a fast action rod but it’s an MBR so I wasn’t sure if it was more suited for bottom contact or for reaction bait stuff.spicy mayo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 10:39 amThe MBR is living up to its rep as a versatile rod. Its good enough as a bottom contact rod for me. Better than the champ xp anyway. I can probably survive with this one rod for all my style of bass fishing.CorsoEnthusiast wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 1:19 pm

Re: FS: G.Loomis NRX+ 843 MBR 7' MH/F
if the Champ XP 703 is the same taper wise as that rod in the Fury series, it’s definitely more like a mod fast. That was my single carry actually before I got into all the stupid expensive specialized stuff.spicy mayo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 2:40 pmIts good enough as a bottom contact rod for me. The Rod that I throw most of that stuff on now is the Megabass Destroyer P5 MadBull which is a 7’ F5 (med Hvy) mod fast. IMO the best all around reaction bait rod available. Has enough backbone to do some bottom contact though it isn’t suited for it. Basically anything between 5/16-1 1/2oz that has treble hooks on it, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, chatterbaits, swim jigs etc. I will throw on this rod.

Been curious about megabass stuff, but I'm always on the hunt for versatility. Maybe now I can start testing out technique specific rods. I doubt I'll try another nrx.

This is a good overview of some of Megabass’ most versatile models. Really the only one they left off this list is Tequila Baccarac IMO. I own the MadBull, Windbuster and Perfect Pitch from this list and previously had the Orochi Diablo Spec R before I got the MadBull.spicy mayo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 4:46 pm Been curious about megabass stuff, but I'm always on the hunt for versatility. Price drop. Still the best rod I ever had and still in excellent condition, but need the money more than I need an nrx right now.
