A few days ago I went on a 3/4 day boat Dana Pride out of Dana Dwarf. If you haven't been fishing this year, there is very little sardines, It's back to the way it was years ago tiny anchovies. The tiny anchovies are hard to cast and get away from the boat. If you do that you will be instantly bit. Lots of different types of fish that are willing to bite.
This trip I caught around 30 calicos, 28 were between 13 to 16 inches, 5 nice sand bass, 5 smaller bonito, 2 good size barracuda, 21 inch halibut, 20 inch wsb, 3 jack or spanish mackerel.
The fish are out there ready to bite, but remember smaller hooks and lighter mono to cast them anchovies and to get them to swim.
