Shelter island mackerel any luck?
Thinking about heading out for some macks on the pier. Are they biting right now? I've heard the bite gets better into late spring when the water gets warmer.

I know some flyfisherman that got into some Mack's this week in the bay. A strange year, you never know what will happen.

Went out to the Shelter Island pier today. Only spent about an hour there and it was really slow. Caught three macks though.

I hear there are some unhealthy levels of mercury in the bays so I personally would not. Nevertheless I see many people keeping the macks so I'm assuming they gonna eat it.

Current ocean sport fishing regulations recommends no more than 1 serving for adult males, etc and "Do not eat" for children and women 18-49 ages due to mercury and PCB contamination
