Gray day on the bay

Post by Gotfish? »

Fished Tidelands this morning from the float tube. Got 31 spotted bay bass, 1 20" halibut and 1 sand bass. At least 1/3 of the spotties were in the 13-15" range. Best lures were a Missile Shockwave swimbait on a weedless standup jig head, a 5" grub on a 3/8 oz. ball head and a 4" grub on a 1/4 oz. weedless slider head (all shown). Got maybe 10 minutes of sun breaking thru. Most fish were in 6-12' of water.

That's what I get for being antisocial, figuring you were probably fishing on your Saturday schedule. I was at Tidelands Sunday AM, too. I think I saw you right after you launched, with about 3-4 kayaks around you.

It was so-so for me, but got a nice legal spottie in the main channel after I tied out a big black fly intended for bigger fish, so that was rewarding.
