Ditch Pickles in the desert

Post by CorsoEnthusiast »

Been focusing my efforts east of SD recently since the bite from shore locally has been pretty tough. A short Cap trip on Saturday that produced one clone bass reinforced that point for me.

With my brother back in town permanently we decided to hit the desert Friday and Sunday to see what we could come up with.

It’s been even slow out there compared to a couple weeks ago. Friday we covered lots of water, walked miles of bank and managed to find a couple of random clones on reaction baits.

Yesterday I caught two clone sized bass in my first 4 casts and then not a bite the rest of the day between us aside from small fry or panfish taking nibbles.

Seems like the bite out there might be slowing down as it gets colder but we’ll find out. With the local bite being a boats only deal mostly right now I’m going to keep focus out in the desert till pre spawn starts.

Got to go where you have some action and you
have had some pretty fun times down there. Yeah, there will be times everywhere the bite
slows down, but that's what makes it fun at times....accepting a challenge. For me, the
SD River is a challenge even though it is very slow, but feels good to even catch a couple although I worked harder than heck to get them. Enjoy your posts and look forward to seeing more bass action reports from you @CorsoEnthusiast .
Tight lines always! :-)

"Ditch Pickles". ......love it!

Found a fun little Christmas Eve jig bite today out there. Every fish I caught was cold and many of them had mud on their bellies.

Just another 2 hours and you could be sitting on real Pigs in the Lakes along the Colorado River. I regiularly get 5-7 pound “Bonus” Bass and had one run of luck that netted 7 Bass over 10 in 7 trips. Giant Flatheads are in the mix as well as Stripers, Smallmouth and Channel Cats. Just a whole new Ballgame in terms of size and numbers. Worth the drive!

I got all my fish from A Float Tube. The entire setup was purchased on Craigslist for $75. Pro and launch for free and gets you in perfect position to flip the reeds. The length of you trip could be the same just less fishing time. Is it worth it to double the average size of the fish you catch?
