Re: Murray 4/26-Mixed it up
Hit Murray this morning(like you guys did not see that coming...ha ha) and it was cool and overcast. I heard of a few topwater stirrings from my buddy Larry who wrangled in some recent topwater bass, so I was ready. It is still a little early for topwater and should be going off a lot better as we head into summer. As Murray often gets, one day the bass are active, the next day they are lockjaw and that applies to topwater at times where one day they are busting in many spots and the next day or so, the lake is so calm it looks like an oil painting...ha ha
Ok...anyway I saw a couple bass hitting the surface and headed their way. On my second cast I landed one on a Sammy. It was exciting as I figured the top action would continue. It did not as the surface remained calm. Yeah, I may have saw a couple random jumps in the distance, but better topwater days will be coming soon. I wasted lots of time in the middle of the lake and coves looking for shad balls and bass and lost a nice bass right near the boat. Later I fished a number of baits that it would take too long to name them all(McFish says he needs a calculator to add up how many times I switch baits when he fished near me..ha ha). Bottomline....missed a few, but landed bass on a Sammy, a spoon, small and larger jerk bait, a Texas rigged craw bait and a jig.
I did land one that went over 3lbs, but most of the bass were small and a couple were tiny(Mcfish size).
Thanks to all of you who are posting fish reports from different lakes.
My Murray reports are pretty stale at times...ha ha
Tight lines.

Re: Murray 4/26-Mixed it up
The water at Murray actually has been pretty murky this year and most of last year… but it’s starting to clear up a little bit so you could see a few feet down. I remember many years ago when you could actually look down 10 feet or more and see the bottom. Not the case today. It is not too clear, but better than it has been. It’s never going to be clear like Jennings, Poway or Miramar.professionull wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 4:30 pm Haven't been to Murray in ages but is the water fairly clear there?

Re: Murray 4/26-Mixed it up
In the good ol days of Murray, the visibility was 20' plus! I'm not sure what happened the last few years, must be that crappy aquaduct water they bring in! Maybe they need some more quaggas to filter out the junk..lolVinnyBass wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 4:57 pmThe water at Murray actually has been pretty murky this year and most of last year… but it’s starting to clear up a little bit so you could see a few feet down. Re: Murray 4/26-Mixed it up
Funny….now that you said that I will look forward to three straight skunks….. ha ha
This weather lately is really going to help a lot of the lakes, and everybody should be enjoying a little more action from this point on.
