@VinnyBass On the History Channel there is a show called "the Proof is Out There". Where experts look at videos and pictures of UFO's and bigfoots to see if there real. That sounds like your next job.

That was really funny.
Thank you for the comment.
I’ve actually watched some of those shows.
Sadly, more than once a few guys on the old Sdfish tried to pull some stuff like holding up same bass in different pics, backgrounds or with a different lure in their mouth like it was a completely different fish they caught. Trust me I’ve seen it all and I even saved a handful of pics documenting this by a few different guys who posted. I shared my findings with a few people and pretty much unanimously they saw what I saw and agreed. Not claiming to always be right, but sometimes there’s things that are pretty much obvious like a visible marking on a bass. I don’t know why guys can’t just be honest…… yeah, I know because they’re are fishermen. Ha ha
Hats off to the guy if he did actually catch that salmon in the river.
Tight lines to ya :-)

I’m pretty sure I know one of the posts you’re referring to from the old site. Last year or maybe even last spring. I never said anything but almost left a comment. All the “different” fish and the same unique marking. Thinking it was Perris or Elsinore ;)

I'm not saying it happened or didn't but there's been so many crazy things I've seen and heard over the years, I'd believe it. Guys catching redfish on cape cod, bonito outside boston harbor, sailfish in the cape cod canal.

While I don't believe the salmon story because of my own experience and the lack of evidence provided, you're right in that stranger things have occurred. Sea turtles have been documented in the San Gabriel River up in Long Beach!

Back in the day a picture was proof, now it's video or it didn't happen. The fact a genz or millennial isn't filming everything they do is the real story here...

Mr. Vinnybass sent me this photo, claiming he caught it in the S.D. River..but his net was too small to land it! I'm not saying it didn't happen...but I think he just played it poorly...! Probably caught it on a Tokyo rig and didn't get a good hookset..

Obviously it was in the SD River chasing those sea lions and he snagged it.

I had a hint of a doubt in my mind too, and after seeing these comments I dug a little deeper. I found the pic on social media, which was of better quality than the one on WON. Additionally, there were a couple of other pics.

I'm a long-time graphic designer by career. I spend hours every week retouching photos in Photoshop. The pictures are legit. I will say, the salmon was really beat up looking. Having caught a couple of salmon in my life, I initially thought the fish in the pic looked like it was bought at a grocery store and sat out in the sun for a couple hours. Looking at the rest of the pictures, I think it really was just an ugly @$$ fish. Ugly, but real.

Don’t think that fish is going to live even though they said he released it. Looks like it got hit by a machete. …. :-)

Still, was it alive and caught or floating and snagged? Looks rough. Maybe someone bought it with intent to cut and eat It spoiled and they dumped it in the river as a prank? If it’s the real deal, very wild

Love it!!!
If that river seal or killer whale or a guy with a machete took a chunk out of it, there’s no way in heck the fish was released as the story goes in WON.
