Wed. at Otay
Fished sunrise to sunset, first time doing that in awhile, and first time to Otay in awhile too. Fog was sooooo pretty that I found it hard not to stop and make some art with my camera.
Not many folks out today. Warm and sunny after fog burned off. BIte was tough, as I'd heard, but got into some topwater action after the water warmed. Landed two out of some 12 to 14 blowups, as they were small is my guess. Kept losing the boot tails off my flukes on the hooksets. No JB action at all, surprisingly.
Saw a buster here and there, hardly any. Fished Otay arm for the most part, looked great with all the flooded tulles still. Wonder how Harvey's would have been. Had a couple of monster blowups too, one on the fluke and one on a Super Spook last minute of the day, those are not uncommon at dusk on the Spook, and land about 80% of them. Not today though (5 or 6 pounders on the average, they really like to come out and play). Usually early am too, but not today.

Re: Wed. at Otay
PS Don't fish the point behind the spot with an X at dusk with a big topwater, you'll have a heart attack when she blows up on it, hopefully your's will stick, mine didn't.

Not many people have been fishing or talking about Otay. Thank you Michael not only for the report, but sharing with us all those beautiful pics. Tight lines always

I thought about photoshopping a bunch of boats on that X, but then I noticed the copyright on the photo and got scared.
Great pictures, seriously. Checked out your website and what a nice body of work you have.

Re: Wed. at Otay
My pleasure. The problem is so many times in the early morning hours, and the late afternoon ones, that you get the great light. But it’s also the time the bass start hitting lures like crazy. A conundrum, if there ever was one.

I too love doing art about fishing although i have a different medium .I just brought my Grandsons fishing and i made these for their room. I will guilt my daughter into putting them on their wall and laugh my ass off when she does.
