Is that the fish Snag Long posed with?
Pretty funny, but no. I caught that at Lake Miramar in 1998 on a live waterdog. 19lbs 4oz. One of my favorite fishing memories of all time. And it jumped 3 times!
That’s awesome. That pic had the same patina as that one that long didn’t catch but posed with for the lake record.

I miss the water dog days.
I only got a couple of polaroids of it and then released it. Ed Ziralski (sp?) from the Union Tribune called me a couple days later really upset that I hadn't called him to let him know and so he could take photos. Pretty funny. I did not realize I was supposed to call the press.
At least you got a photo of yours and had a little credit acknowledgement but at the same time that may have helped keep that lake quiet too. I know people are still catching 16-18lb bass out of there to this day on swimbaits. A lot of lakes that got noticed from big catches seemed to have hurt from exposure. I'd say that the world record bass that was snagged at Dixon caused a lot of pressure on the lake and for a fact tell you I saw 3 bass spawning the size of trash cans a year prior to that catch and no longer see much past doube digits

Not as big as the giants in this thread but the biggest bass I’ve caught since 1991, my 5-13 from Cap in September. That means I have a whole bunch more big ones to catch if I want to catch up with the rest of you! But, I look forward to the challenge.

Funny @VinnyBass same exact bait for my old profile pic...although I suspect a different body of water...

Full(er) story: I was throwing some spinners and other "noisy" baits and standing barefooted on a tulle stump and something tickled my foot...I looked down and it was a small crayfish...weird I thought. A bit later same thing...a little tickle and another crawdad. Being a thinking man (sort of) the next day I came back with the previously mentioned Googan Krackin Craw and on the second cast, BANG! this little lady was on the line...brief, but very stressful fight later and it was photo time. Sorry no scale so no exact weight, I would guess 7 or so...

My biggest was at Sutherland on a silver Rat-L-Trap on 8/7/17. 7.95 lbs.

Old camera phone and no selfie stick. But his head is almost as big as mine. LOL

Thanks Vinny! I'm still hunting for that double digit bass sometime in my future. Hopefully ALL the lakes will be "back to normal" next year. Take care!

Pretty sure he's talking about Lower Colorado. That's a really good LCR fish!

I remember hearing about some huge bass that were floaters at Jennings a few years ago. That was once a beast! :-)

Most of the time when a bass dies it stays on the bottom, but as the body decomposes, gas forms in the body, which at times can cause
the body of the fish to float to the surface or at times when a bass is near death it floats to the surface. So thus the term..."a floater."
