Wednesday 8/16 HOT 🥵
Got to the lake @430, headed to Hauser, fishing in the dark and fighting the mosquitoes, bugs. Very slow for the first two hours, only managed 4 and two aggressive blue gills. Busters were around but didn’t last long after the sun came up. It was super hot and humid! Ended up at 20 bass 2 gills. Biggest bass was 3lb, left @11, air temperature was 100! Water was 75-79

Hey, isn't that the lure you lent me? It does work! Nice report and nice work finding the fish in the heat.

Sweet. you missed the excitement, weather wise. whitecaps and northern winds and 2' rollers from nowhere for 1/2 hour, tons of thunder and lightening, none hit me! Motored over to the leeward side, and bite was good right then and right after, top. Landed 11 for 1/2 days work, beginner with me got 3, he was sooo excited about it.

Re: Wednesday 8/16 HOT 🥵
That two for one gill shot is priceless. I cherish the gill fishing at Barrett ALMOST as much as the bass fishing. We got into a gill bite in 2019 and were catching 1.25 to 1.75 gills at will. I also love the crappies when you get into the schools and have pulled in 10 in just a couple minutes. The cheap little creme grubs you get at Walmart with a1/8oz red head white grub body always seems to work well away for the dock area. I have also caught a bunch of gills on small crank baits. 1/8 to 1/4oz size. Ultra light to medium light spinning rods 6lb mono to 10lb braid to 8lb leader. They fight hard and dont give up. Mix in the occasional bass up two pounds on the gill baits and you have great funfilled time.![😎](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f60e.svg)
