Barrett report May 24th

Post by Early release »

Hello all,

Here's what happened on Barrett for me today. Got out in the dark, like you are supposed to. First fish at 0540. At that time it's not dark anymore. :)

Took a while to get fish, but eventually there were fish. Here's the stats: Topwater 0, Jerkbait (Silver) 13, Jig 4, Dropshot Roboworm 3, and adding in, the crankbait came alive with 5 good size fish. Went to pine arm today and that's where most of these fish were caught. Pine arm is an expanse now. Or maybe it just seemed a lot bigger. It's definitely a lot deeper. Water temp varied between 72 and 75. Wind came up on the way back and was once again howling. While pedaling my kayak back, I let my mind wander between the various Beaufort numbers, trying to remember the descriptions. For all those who paddle, pedal or kick their float tubes, there's a certain sarcasm to a "fresh breeze" since that's a 20mph wind.

Here's a picture of the northeast corner of Pines.

And some of the fish.
