From rock bottom to the top
El Capitan 7/2
I threw every topwater and mid-column lure I own and got nary a nibble....zip...nada....nuttin. I switched to the bottom and zing bada bing! Senkos, jigs, Roboworms, if I had it, I threw it and they ate it! And they didn't give a rat's bass about color either, it all worked. I ended up with 8 fish on the day.

Re: From rock bottom to the top
Otay 7/3
The topwater bite this morning was the best I've seen in years! Got 11 bass on walking baits, poppers, and even one frog fish thrown in for fun. After the top bite slowed, I switched to a small crankbait and added three more bass and 2 humongous bluegill. What an awesome morning.

I saw you out there at Otay this morning. I was on shore throwing flies for a bit before work.

Re: From rock bottom to the top
Not too good. I had some small bass and bluegill go for my fly, but nothing stuck. I only had an hour to work with and it was my first time fly fishing freshwater locally in a LONG time.

I haven't fly fished since I left Colorado (where are grew up) back in 1982. I've often thought about taking it up again.Ol Dirty Basser wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 6:40 pm Not too good.
