Barrett Report June 26
Short report today. Chuck and I got out there at the usual 0430. What was unusual was the there was a steady wind already. Water temp was at 76F. Went to the usual places, but they were a bit windblown and the kayak was hard to keep still. Chuck stayed on the Becky's cove side of Hauser and I went to the little coves along the opposite side of Hauser. Picked up fish on popper, and whopper plopper. Tried a new lure from Megabass called a Gatta-X which is the equivalent of a small plane landing in the water. It worked though and fish went for it. When the sun popped up, the wind died down for a bit and we found busters in the opening of Hauser and Becky's cove. They pretty much hit anything, so they are not picky anymore, you just have to be close. I had a conference call so I had to be out of the water around 0900. Wind was pretty impressive then. There was only about 45-60 minutes of calm.

Still a good day albeit quick! This wind is likely going to alter our Sunday plan. It’s refusing to be calm

Yes, so the bay is the plan. But wind early makes the drifts too fast. I guess it’s still June but it seems like our calm morning windows have been very short this year.
