Back to Monday Fun day!
It took San V an extra month to get going, but it's on now! What a difference 2 weeks makes...got there at sunrise 2 weeks ago, 6 boats..today at sunrise, more like 30! First cast, lost a 6lber in a bush..bad omen, nope! I got into a solid pattern and didn't move more than 100' for the next 5 hours. I finished the day with 23 fish, a fun half day of fishing. I found some decent fish along with the males that are running the brush lines! Water temp was 67-69, air 75, really nice day all around!

Not moving more than a 100' in 5 hours, impressive! That's spot fishing for sure. Nice work!

Re: Back to Monday Fun day!
I wondered when "Monday Fun Days" was going to return and looks like it did so in great form. Great job out there @McFish and some nice fish. So more boats were on the water today and probably more next week, but doubt more boats will distract you from catching bass. Heck, I tried to distract you before by talking constantly when we fished near each other and you were able to tune me out. Thanks for sharing and look forward to more "Monday Fun Day" reports from you and probably a lot others here on SDFish after seeing your post.

Re: Back to Monday Fun day!
Good to see you out there on Monday. Even fishing near you I hooked up on a drop shot, but she came off, in fact all 5 bites I had yesterday came off the hook. Gonna have to change hooks. Great job out there actually boating 23 bass! I'll be back next Monday. Maybe I can tie a line to your boat and follow you around for the day. Take care and tight lines Mcfish!

Thanks for the report @mcfish. Open to sharing what pattern you found that worked so well?

Re: Back to Monday Fun day!
I tried also.....
and he charged me $20 to let me know he was using 8lb test on one of his rods.
Then another $20 regarding baits to let me know that he has a favorite color Roboworm but only told me that they don't make it anymore.
And then with my last $20, he said he would give me details on where are some hot spots at san V and get back to me, but word has
it that he used it to pay for his boat launch and fishing permit.
I hope you have better luck.........

Re: Back to Monday Fun day!
I'm kind of known for finessing everything, including my hook size..but I've actually gone up in hook size after missing some hook sets that I think I should of had last summer. Only took 50 years to learn that!RamonaAngler wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2023 1:43 pm Good to see you out there on Monday. Re: Back to Monday Fun day!
I'm normally dropshotting in 10'-25', or chasing schooling breaking fish..but for a few weeks in the spring I look for shallow flats with scattered brush. The majority of my fish were found in tight spots between the brush in 4'-6' of water. I was fishing a 4" senko and got most of the fish lifting and dropping the bait. Around noon, I pulled out my dropshot rod and threw some 4" robos out in 15'-20' outside rockpiles to add 4 more fish before calling it a day. At San V, when fishing deeper, don't be afraid to fish the manzanita and oak trees off shore..that's where the fish are! You won't land every fish, but at least you'll get hookups. You can fish a dropshot in the thickest trees, just be patient and finesse the bait through the limbs. I fish a short 5" tag line to the weight, which helps getting it through the limbs. The shallow bite won't last forever so let's hope we get a good topwater bite this summer and we can stay above the trees and brush!
