Otay 6/9
Arrived at Otay just as they opened the gate, and launched my tube from North Point. No sooner had I kicked out than the bass started busting all around me.
Caught my first 5 on a topwater walking bait. Then switched over to my little deep diving crankbait. Caught 11 more bass and 8 really large Bluegill on that thing.
By 10:00 she sun had burned off the fog, and I couldn't buy another bite in any part of the water column, but the early bite was amazing!
Here are a few pics from what turned out to be an awesome morning! Days like this are why I keep doing it lol.

Re: Otay 6/9
Nice job out there @Dannicus !
You sure pulled in a nice variety of fish today and that "cool" little crank bait you shared with us on a recent post is pretty amazing!
That little thing is worth its weight in gold the way the fish are attacking it. I bet you had a blast out there getting some topwater
bass early and then unleashing that secret weapon(little crank bait) on the bass and some very healthy crappie and bluegill.
Thank you for sharing with us and tight lines(seems silly to say that as your lines are tight on every fishing trip).![Smile :-)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.png)

Re: Otay 6/9
You did good Man. Those Crappie remind me of Crappie fishing in AZ. Despite the common belief that Crappie only hit minnows, your pictures prove that Crappie will hit almost anything including crankbaits, Jerkbaits, spinner baits, and senkos. Your success inspires me to fish for those Crappies again. I have caught multiple (9) Crappies at one place at Barrett. Yes, I threw them back, even though I REALLY wanted to eat them.
Thanks for the report.

Re: Otay 6/9
That's what I was thinking too! Smashing a bluegill pattern bait? That and the fact that the entire bait wouldn't even fit in their little bluegill mouths lol

Re: Otay 6/9
I think you mean the Fat Rap? Regarding them trying to eat something that big, I caught a bluegill at Barrett on a full size Deps Buzzjet. Blew it out of the water. I had a pet bluegill I caught in a Yuma canal that ate small green crawdads
