FLOATay Sat 5/18

Post by CorsoEnthusiast »

Some Otay morning action in the tubes today. Brother and I have effectively starting calling it “FLOATay” because it’s such a float tube friendly lake. Lots of good spots to launch and fish there. Every trip I’ve taken down there I’ve encountered quite a few tubers as well.

How was the fishing? We launched off North Point - first vehicle there. Lots of cloud cover early. Couldn’t get them to eat the Rico or a Kickknocker pup so I started throwing no sinker rig plastics along the tule line and started immediately getting bites. Little better quality than most of my fish at Cap last weekend but also, a couple of awfully small ones today. We ended up with over 12 between the two of us before 9am. Soon as the clouds burned off the bite went away. Tried a color change and a couple of bait changes with no success and decided to call it a day around 10:30.

Chula Vista is my hometown, so we took the opportunity to visit my favorite Mexican food place in all San Diego - the original Lolita’s on L St.

A fun day! I have a bunch of PTO coming up around the holiday next weekend, will have a full week off work and am planning on fishing as many of those days as possible.
