Re: San V and friends...

Seems like the quality at the V is starting to get better! Nice work! There's alot of fry to feed on now! No sign of silversides or shad though. The fish definitely have fatter bellies now! Definitely saw some silverside activity up shallow early this morning. Quality theme kept going today. Lots o...

July 15-16 report

Was lucky and got boat tickets for Saturday and Sunday . First trip this season for us .. Camped at the Skyline RV Ranch , only a few minutes from the front gate. Up at 03:30 to the gate at 04:00 that’s way better than a 3 hour drive ..! Limited cell service, good power and water no issues, super fr...

Murray AM

Heck, out of all the guys on SDFish, it seems like only a few go bass fishing based on the amount of actual new posts each week. I know that there are slow times for everyone when you may only catch one or a few small ones, but why not share it. I understand there are some guys who like to keep thei...

V is for victory!

..as in victory over a bunch of healthy, hard fighting fish. When my brother planned his trip down here the first thing I did was book a guided trip with my buddy Andre Casey. As the trip date approached, San V was the clear choice with numbers still showing up and quality of the fish getting better...

On the Water Again-Murray 7/21

Murray is coming up a few feet a day as I have been over checking it here and there and decided yesterday to give it a go. So this morning I dusted off the cobwebs on my kayak and was just able to launch it from the bottom of the boat ramp at Murray. Still quite a ways off before a boat can launch a...

Can you reel faster than a bass swims?

Bass hit my full speed topwater flukes with such precision, and speed, it always amazes me. Thus my wondering on their speed. According to one post on a search, you'd be hard pressed to reel TOO FAST! "LMB can swim about 12 mph with burst speed to 20 mph. Bass rely on quick turns, not sustained...

Re: Barrett report July 22nd

Yeah, they were busting lake crazy and chasing bait in a giant circle (think 400 yard diameter, at least) at the very beginning of the Pine arm just north of where the port-a-potty used to be at the Hauser/Pine split. I managed a 4 pounder on a keitech out in the middle (among other basically 2 poun...

Fuego!

Got to fish San V yesterday morning with SDFish member Oh Da Shiz off his boat. San V is just en fuego right now. Mostly a finesse plastic bite but they were chomping. Find the shade, find the mud, find the fish. Definitely the best local bite going that isn’t on the downlow. We ended up with ~20 fi...

7/24-Lake Miramar Dink-Fest

With intent to go to Murray for a morning session with my kayak, I found myself suddenly getting on 8 West and then heading up 15 to Lake Miramar. There was a recent posting on the SD City Lakes website that the lake was going to be closed to boats, kayaks and float tubes after July 4 for a while, b...

Re: 7/24-Lake Miramar Dink-Fest

It’s actually a fun lake and the bass are pretty cooperative. Lots and lots of clones. With the bottom having lots of weeds/grass so the lighter the weight, the better you are if you use weights with plastics. Free lining or wacky rigging a senko helps keep your worm above the weeds better. Of cours...

7-26 The Temp and the Fishing Were Hot 🔥

Got most of the way beck in Hauser by 5:30. Our first stop yielded 10 on various flukes and shad roboworms thrown at trees and the banks. We kept hearing splashes behind us so made the decision to chase boilers midlake. Nice payoff as we bagged another 21 throwing and dragging swimming minnows. Got ...
