6/25

First I’d like to thank Dave G and Laurie for helping set this up. I have been fishing with Tony for a few months, he has Stage 4 Lung Cancer and needed some time on the water. I have been fishing Newport Bay with him, kind of training him to fish for Largemouth Bass. The skills you learn from fishi...

Re: Favorite fish finder and size on kayak

I have a Garmin Striker Vivid 4cv. I like its size and features, but wished it had the ability to upload/download waypoints and maps. You can create your own maps, but it sure would be nice to have a map of place ahead of time instead of making one real time. It has a “share user data” feature but i...

What it’s all about.

Some of you guys have known me and my family for a while. We ALL fish. Well, we’ve been teaching my youngest (Isabella) how to use a proper spinning setup for the last year. She’s 6yrs mind you. She’s now become sufficient enough to cast, reel on her own. Just the basic worm set up. Mostly just dire...

Re: Favorite fish finder and size on kayak

I’m having really good luck with my Lowrance 5 inch. My buddies all have 7 and 9 inch but I think too much screen gets in the way, at least for me. It is pretty close to my face so no readability issues. I bought a 1 year old upgraded Chart Chip off EBay with better bottom topography for $50. Works ...

Re: Favorite fish finder and size on kayak

Looks like in general, I should just keep the sample size one, as it does do the basics well. Thanks for the help and saving me money. Sure! You may stick to your trusty one dimensional unit, similar to the Humminbirds and Lowrance units I've been using for decades of successful fishing. Those are ...

Re: Favorite fish finder and size on kayak

Thanks for the nice write up. You pretty much nailed what I was thinking about with the fishfinder. I'm happy that you use the 7" unit. That was my biggest concern was getting some large screen and then impacting my movement in the kayak. I'll probably match your setup. Next I have to design m...

7/8 Mucho Viento

Headed out to Hauser first light and found them biting flukes good. First cast magic with a surface explosion and all. The girl got 4 pretty quick and I eventually caught up. Anywhere from the shore out to 8-10ft and around submerged trees. Things slowed a bit when the sun came out and I decided to ...

Re: Barrett report July 8

Nice one! We may have fished near you in Hauser. Saw deer too. Always cool. On your crawler, many years ago I found a jitterbug that gurgles and wobbles good and I thought it would get them to go for sure. No luck after 10 minutes today so I went back to flukes. Will have to dedicate some time to my...

Barrett RFeport( video) Saturday 7-8

Barrett from Saturday 7-8. Morning bite a little tough for us but once they started busting in the middle of Hauser it was on. Throw into a boil and its cant miss. Better quality fish came mostly shallower. Busters lasted around 2 hours tops.Enjoy the clip I put together. https://youtu.be/7zztgKmuLzE

Barret schools are hitting

Headed out to Big B on Saturday a lot of kayakers out there and me and my daughter found a school of bait fish and schools of bass at the chomp. We ended up with about 50 or so between the both of us.we had an awesome time and it was her first time on the kajak so that was awesome. All on topwater w...

Barrett Personal Best! July 9th

Still working on quantity but quality is way up! Was on the lake 420 at Pine Arm by 445. Got some dropshot in the water and caught one with the stars still out! That was really fun. Then moved deeper into Pine and saw some boiling that I was able to put a white/chartreuse jackhammer on. Didn't weigh...

This. I did all my damage today on a black 3/8oz jig with a craw trailer.

7/10 San V....Yes, San V

Recently after moving lots of junk around in my garage( while getting rid of junk also), my boat sat there looking like a storage unit. There was junk beside it, under it and on it.,,,it was crazy! So I went a little crazy on Sunday afternoon and moved everything around so that I could actually pull...

Re: Barrett report July 8

That's the beauty of Barrett, you can try any bait and most time it works. Glad to show you what works.
