D&K 6/23

Met a gentleman named Mike at the lake who told me that he actually enjoys my posts here on the forum so this one's for you brother. I arrived Mcfish 's lake when it opened and got on the water just in time for some excellent topwater action. I caught 5 quality bass in the first hour and a half on a...

Re: Bass Boat Restoration and Repair!

Just curious, did you see what the cost was parts and labor? I know sometimes insurance jobs can be different than a normal pay job but just wondering as I need some carpet and don’t have the time to attempt myself. Hey Camo, sorry for the late post. The materials (mostly carpet but some paint) wer...

Early release wrote: Sun Jun 23, 2024 3:48 pmWhat I didn't like about the imitators is that the blade portion didn't start spinning as soon as you moved it.
It's kinda like chatterbaits. I see the cheap ones take a while for the blade to start vibrating. It's no wonder why the Jackhammer is the standard.

poppers and crankbaits and jigs oh my! 6/25

I fished lake Murray this morning, and the water was so low that it was almost at the end of the boat ramp. On the plus side, I had the place almost all to myself (except for a few shore guys that arrived mid-morning). There were a lot of bass busting early, but I couldn't get them to take my top wa...

Great Day On The Big Bay!

San Diego Bay Fishing: Catch Fish All Day!!! https://youtu.be/6P8iFkDb6G8 OK, so the doldrums of summer have begun at the lakes and bass fishing is hit and miss. After having an absolutely amazing spring time fishing the lakes and getting lots of nice bass I figured it was time to head back to the b...

Re: Barrett Report June 26

Still a good day albeit quick! This wind is likely going to alter our Sunday plan. It’s refusing to be calm 😕

Yes, so the bay is the plan. But wind early makes the drifts too fast. I guess it’s still June but it seems like our calm morning windows have been very short this year.

Frogging in the thick cheese

Got to water with Dave @4:30, unusually windy but managed to get them on the crawler, a couple of 3 pounder. Headed back to Hauser after Dave left and started with the frog, dragging it over the thick mat of cheese and when there’s a water opening the bass would explode on it. Gotta have braided lin...

Re: Kayak 2.5 Suzuki / Spot lock mod.

Hi Dave, I'll fumble around with that and see what I can do. First I am going to try with what pictures I can find. Here is the setup for the full outrigger. When I use the small outriggers the motor mount is very similar but none of the parallel to the kayak rigging you see. ] I have never been as ...

Re: Frogging in the thick cheese

Yeah, without braid I'd not of landed half my topwater bass either (hollow bodied and boot foot frogs). The slime covers most the underwater shoreline bushes, and they head right for it after hooksets. Thanks for the heads up on that pattern 619. Ended w/ 15, all top but one on a follow-up Senko. No...

Re: Frogging in the thick cheese

Nice work Michael, those are healthy bass, only negative i have is trying to get all that moss/white fluffy flower that'd stick to the braid off. I guess you have to work for them.

6/28-SD River

Yesterday, I loaded my smaller kayak and headed over to Lake Murray in hopes of fishing only a few hours before the heat arrives. Aware that they were lowering the water level like they do every year for the 4th of July Fireworks show, I just assumed the ramp would still have a little water on it. I...

Beating the Breeze In Style 6-30

Didn’t do zero dark thirty but probably should have. The spotty bite south of the bridge in Square Mile Flats was immediately on with slower retrieves coming through the grass. Quickly got off a fast retrieving blade bait and on to the drop shot with a Z man TRD. My bro was pounding me though on a 3...

Hey Barrett crew, posting this late report for Wednesday June 19: With the help of the great guidance provided here (thanks again to those who responded to my "fishing identity crisis" post), I felt like we were starting to get our groove on again! Me and my son got on the water on the lat...
