Big'un Hodges 4/28

Caught several clones and this behemoth at Hodges this morning. My scale sucks but definitely in the 8lb range. I debated on going to Otay today as it's much closer to me. I'm glad I chose to make the drive! It was great to see Pourboy out there too. Good times! IMG_20240428_070629956_HDR.jpg

First time at El Cap

Well I have to say that I really liked my first trip to El Cap! Probably the nicest day weather wise in a long time and sometimes that means...not great fishing. But that was not the case. I don't have a boat (actually I do have a canoe, but that doesn't count) so I decided to hire a guide, what a g...

5/1-Tough morning/SD River

Being forgetful made my SD River fishing trip a little tougher this morning. Last night I sorted out a selection of crawbaits, senkos, creature and a few other plastic worms in little ziplocks that were geared just for the SD river. This way I could travel light as I have a tendency to bring way, wa...

Opening Day 2024 at the Big B

Had a lot of fun today at the Big B. I would call it quality over quantity. We still got about 60 between us that included a dozen four pounders and a nice five pounder. A lot of three pounders also. The topwater bite was just okay on the PopR and the whopper plopper. I switched to the flipping the ...

Re: Barrett opener kayak report

It’s the noise and slow twitch that gets them. The bigger crawler like the I-wing draws the bigger fish

Re: 5/1-Tough morning/SD River

I read this and snorted. Like Jim, I do checklists, because well, old. But most of them are in my head, so there's the added fun of maybe not remembering the checklist, much less the checked item. It's good you went anyway and even got a fish. When I am not fishing out of my boat, I customize a lot...

First float at Otay

Brother and I took the float tubes down to Otay today. We got there a little later than normal and it was 8ish before we got in the water. Weightless worms along the tule lines in Harvey’s were the meal ticket today. Think I spent exactly 3 casts on other baits all morning. Started off with a little...

Otay trifecta 4/4

Nice to meet CorsoEnthusiast AKA Jeremy and his brother at Otay today. Both class acts, and I am looking forward to fishing with them in the future. Myself, I ended up with 6 bass, a dozen or so bluegill, and 4 crappie. I scored the trifecta as Jeremy put it lol. IMG_20240504_094931451_HDR.jpg IMG_2...

The Captain was good to me! 5/7

Had an 11 bass morning today at El Capitan.  All over 2 pounds with a couple over 3. I was fishing a Texas rigged TRD Crawz, pitching it right to the bank and into the weeds then jigging it back out. https://i.servimg.com/u/f20/20/42/12/38/img_2125.jpg https://i.servimg.com/u/f20/20/42/12/38/img_212...

Wed May 8th

3 clumsy guys fished from 5:30 to 4pm for approx 60+ fish. Most just under 2lbs. 16 over 2lbs with top fish at 3.5lbs. We got a few on the top but mostly later in the day. Bite seemed to get better for us later and quality definitely got better. Senko wacky and Texas rig was our main attack. Caught ...
