Re: Wrong Again!

It was so exciting as I prepped my fishing gear days before my trip and was pretty confident it was going to be some great fishing despite the long drive up the lake. Besides a selection of proven worms, I carefully packed every bait that had been successful over the years and the whole drive there ...

Morning Run to El Cap 5/16

Postponed a cool windy Friday for a warm sunny Tuesday at El Cap…WRONG! This winter that won’t let go had the lake chilly and white capping by 10am today. It probably slowed whats been a decent bite but seeing the shad along the shoreline pushed us to throw spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, and flukes over t...

5/16 Marvelous Morning at Murray

I have had some tough trips this year to Murray where I worked hard just to catch a couple bass(thank you for lowering, then raising the water, then lowering and then raising it a little etc, etc., etc.) Anyway...My last trip in the beginning of May showed a little sign of improvement. This morning ...

Re: Anyone have any hints on Diamond Valley Lake?

Light Line is the key at DVL. I wouldn’t be fishing anything above 7lb on finesse setups. Can’t go wrong with a drop shot there. Just make sure you have weedless hooks as the stick ups there can eat some tackle. I like the Roboworm Rebarb hooks. Check the backs of coves for late spawners and if not ...

Re: Barrett report May 17th

Nice car and a half width, smooth clean “ramp” into the water. Water is above where the road used to take a hard left into the cove. All the parking is perpendicular to the cove, leaving pigs main road into the water open. People were mostly wheeling kayaks to the ramp. Some guys backed up at the en...

Re: Anyone have any hints on Diamond Valley Lake?

They have some big striper in there that you can target on heavier gear although they're usually more keyed in on eating those trout. You can try trolling big trout looking rapalas or even bring frozen bait to try for catfish and or striper (forgot what the striper like; anchovies?) if you only have...

Re: Anyone have any hints on Diamond Valley Lake?

If the wind picks up find the most windy back and fish a jerk bait. I’ve had some incredible days ripping 30+ fish off a windy bank.

5/19-You know where I went....

Yes, after a fun fishing outing on Tuesday with my buddy Joe, I just had to go back to Murray and check it out. A pretty good start as I caught a bass on my third cast with a fluke. Pretty quickly after that I landed another bass on a fluke. Just a little less than 15 minutes later I was fan casting...

San V Saturday 5-20-23

Hit up San V on Saturday. After being Skunked at Sutherland for the month of March and the beginning of April, I was happy to finally have a decent day at San Vicente. I would have gone on Monday to avoid the skiers, tubers, etc. But, I have a dentist appointment this Monday, so I decided to brave t...

Barrett Report - May 21st 🔥

Arrived at 4am with RickM and we were super excited to experience the "new" lake, and indeed it definitely feels different with the water levels so high. Parking was great and the haul down with a battery and trolling motor was much easier since the dock was so close. The boat ride to Haus...

The Magic Waterfall 5/6 and 5/7

Late report but I went out to the B on 5/6 in my kayak and found a good topwater bite before the sound came up throwing a popper. After that I struggled for a bit. Threw the chatter, blade and jig for a few fish and finally just started doing a lot of exploring. Lake was full of life and is so much ...

Re: Barrett Report - May 21st 🔥

Early release wrote: Tue May 23, 2023 8:08 am I'm guessing Pines would be amazing. I think most of us are getting stuck in Hauser, when we are on the way, which isn't a bad thing. I'm going tomorrow and I'll try to be disciplined and pedal down to Pines.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes! Tight lines.

5/27 report

Got to the gate around 4. Gate was just opened and we were about 8th to drive in it seemed like. Had a boat which was nice. Parking up by the bathroom because dock is so high. Motored to Hauser and stopped at a pinned location but it was totally different than years past. Threw all types of topwater...
