Re: Barrett report July 26th

I agree with you both on Barrett bass’s fighting strength! My biggest weighed 4 on the janky scale I swear I’m going to replace but it fought like a 5 or 6. A super fun day despite the heat.

Good times, and request from staff

Fished last Wed and the one before, very hot, but good topwater action helps me forget about it. _____________________________ Oh, the road is in terrible shape, thought it was just me, got worse in one week, and Laurie asked me to ask YOU to petition the city to get it graded. Staff has to drive in...

Re: Good times, and request from staff

Food for thought – not really trying to rub people the wrong way or start a huge internet discussion - just giving another very important perspective. The easiest thing to do for the city is to shut it down so keep that in mind before you start blowing up the city. This is a really valid point and w...

Barrett report Sunday 7/30

I’ve been stalking these forums for a while now, waiting for our chance to get on the lake. First time at Barrett was a Sunday, and it did not disappoint! What a beautiful gem of a lake it is, and such good fishing opportunities. We are beginner bass fishermen — two dads, and two boys 7 and 9 years ...

Re: Any bass lakes or reservoirs with rental boating? :/

One caveat about San Vicente: if you’re not comfortable dealing with wake from ski boats, go on a Monday. They are out in force on the weekends and typically don’t have any consideration for anyone else on the water. It’s a miracle there isn’t an accident there every single weekend with those turkey...

8/2-Back to Lake Miramar

Last Monday when I was at Miramar I saw a few rumbles on the surface but had no topwater baits with me as I packed mostly worms and craw baits. A buddy also recently told me he caught a few on top this trip I packed a few topwater baits in my kayak. It was a little foggy when I arrived and headed ac...

7/30 Report (it was non-stop)

Up dark and early on Saturday morning and left the dock at 4:30a with my son (13) and my buddy Rick. We decided to jet all the way to the end of Hauser (20 minute total runtime), which is where we finished strong last month. Covering the gaps between the submerged trees and bushes with poppers and o...

A couple at my Home Lake

Hit my home lake for a few hours on Saturday morning 8-5-23. Got on the lake at 6:00AM. 1st one on a Popper in shallow water. 2nd one on a drop shot rig in a little deeper water. Then had one break off heading under the boat, even though my drag was pretty loose. 2 more missed hook sets after that. ...

Quick Sunday Morning Sesh at the V

Got in and out before 9:30 when the zoo showed up in force. Caught a couple of shoreline dinks then moved out to the 20ft zone for 3 bigger models. All caught on splitshot 4.5” roboworms.

Another great day on the water. I’m still healing up from my last few trips. Swelling in the fingers is going down, tooth holes healing up. I’ll be ready soon. Those Big Spotties really chew you up!

Early release wrote: Sun Aug 06, 2023 7:15 pm Nice job getting in and out before the crowds. Is that your new Alumacraft boat? I'll bet that makes San V pretty nice.
Hey Dave its a babied 2007 that I drove out to Havasu to buy last year. Pretty simple but it definitely makes the lakes, bays, and kelps easier!

Re: 8/2-Back to Lake Miramar

Tubed Miramar Saturday morning in hopes of some top water action. Did not disappoint after about 2 hours after we launched we proceeded to kick across. About half ways across the water all around us began to boil and then all hell broke loose. Fired my Gunfish just over the boils and worked it back ...

Good report! Those bluegill out there have some chests to them.

When does the season end there and when would be the last date on Tix-master to get tickets?

8/7 Murray

Still did not see any topwater action......pretty strange as in the beginning of June it just started to go off and then pretty much died. Drastic changes in the water levels definitely had some type of affect in the overall fishing as normally topwater action would be pretty much wide open in the m...

Re: Barrett report August 5th

Sounds like fun! I always bring a light rig and catch some bluegill if the bass bite gets too slow. Always fun and sometimes the bass like the small baits too.
