Excellent story-telling and photos.
I am curious if there are any shore fishing spots, targeting large mouths on artificials on the river.
I didn't even realize we had a thriving river in SD county.

Re: Dixon
CKRZ, As an Escondido resident, Lake Dixon has been my "home lake" for over 2-decades. I am strictly a bass fisherman from shore and can only speak to this species. I fish Dixon no less than once per week. If you fish Dixon for bass, it's hard to beat a drop-shotted finesses worm rigged we...

Re: Dixon
CKRZ,
One last comment in addition to my earlier reply.
My personal Lake Dixon rule of thumb is "never on a weekend."
Way too many people.

Re: Fishing up here in cowboyland
TaBASSco, Some ramblings in response to your post. Some history: I am a 20+ year ago transplant from NYS residing in San Diego County. Back "home," where I cut my fishing teeth, we had natural glacial lakes and multi-species river systems. Moved to SoCal and pretty soon figured out a few t...

Lake Dixon Thursday
Had my weekly opportunity to shore fish from 4-6PM today. Got 2. Both drop shots. The best part for me was I finally caught something on other than a RoboWorm or Senko. Got one on a drop-shotted Yamamota pumpkin Kreature bait hooked once through near the nose. I threw this one a couple times previou...

Re: ivermectin... WE TOLD YOU SO!
Hey SHEEP... Get the jab. We know what’s best. Apparently not exactly. Official data released by Canada’s government shows that 74% of triple-vaxxed Canadians now have Vaccine Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (VAIDS). Compared to the natural immune system of their unvaccinated counterparts, the ...

Had to Ask - SD County Golf Course Bass
I hope this is not inappropriate for this general forum. Feel free to PM me with any response if not suited for here. So... Entered my 70s a couple years ago. No boat, no tube, no kayak, shore bound. A largemouth fisherman. Fish alone more often than not. Escondido resident. Have walked the shorelin...

Re: Chiefs or 49ers?
Yes my Bills and Chargers disappointed.
Though Patrick Mahomes has several more year aheads to potentially be established as the GOAT; My Rule #1:
DON'T EVER BET AGAINST PATRICK MAHOMES.
It's that simple to me, a Chargers fan.

Re: Crawdads vs. Jigs: Which Will Catch More Bass
Had to throw in my 2-cents. Not a live bait fisherman, so can make no comment here. Now jig fishing, that's another thing. Now I recognize there are many excellent jig plastic trailers (which I use), especially those craw-like; but I have my lifetime favorite jig rig. 3/8 oz black marabou jig with t...

Lake Dixon - Thursday's Observations from a Bass Guy
Observation: #1. Skunked from shore. #2. Water level is lowest I've seen in at least 15-years (subject to change any day or week). #3. At least for now, there is some level of increased shore access. #4. Viewing the lake bottom to about 10' from a pier, seems a bit early for my fellow bass folks. Ju...

Lake Dixon Weekly Update from a Bass Guy
Well our boat rental plans bombed, so chose to spend an hour on a pier looking for what is different from last week. Last week: Water level lowest I've seen in 15-years. Through clear water to about 15', nothing looked attractive at all. Skunked. Crappy trout fishing as the scheduled plant could not...

Re: Lake Dixon Weekly Update from a Bass Guy
Dixon, now there's a word we've not heard for a long, long time... great report, gracias. Reminds me of when you had a chance a catching a bass worth ONE MILLION DOLLARS! I had a chance at her, one of just a handful of folks, story here: https://www.seewald.com/had_chance_at_world_record_bass.htm M...

Lake Dixon Today
With a little boat surgery, got 2 today. Missed one pickup. All on drop-shotted pumpkin Kreatures. Got a chance to cruise the shoreline for the first time this year. No well defined beds yet; but some smaller males are hanging around shallow developing beds. Today's catch was all in about 20' of wat...
