Markdowns at the happiest place on earth...

...meaning the Santee Walmart. The 4 inch Luck E Strike curltail worms that are usually $1.57 are now 75 cents a pack. Pink, purple, black, and tequila sunrise. There are a few 6 inch worms as well.

I grabbed a few packs for spotted bass in the bays.

Re: FS: G.Loomis NRX+ 843 MBR 7' MH/F

That was my main curiosity, it’s a fast action rod but it’s an MBR so I wasn’t sure if it was more suited for bottom contact or for reaction bait stuff. Its good enough as a bottom contact rod for me. Better than the champ xp anyway. I can probably survive with this one rod for all my style of bass...

Re: FS: G.Loomis NRX+ 843 MBR 7' MH/F

Been curious about megabass stuff, but I'm always on the hunt for versatility. Maybe now I can start testing out technique specific rods. I doubt I'll try another nrx. This is a good overview of some of Megabass’ most versatile models. Really the only one they left off this list is Tequila Baccarac...

New grunion rules....

Re: Mission Bay 7/2

There are very few options for using an SUP on lakes in San Diego. SUPs are allowed at Lake Hodges and San Vicente. San V has haul-ass SKI BOATS everywhere, wake-boat big wakes, not to mention the bass boaters on our lakes that like to drive 70 mph everywhere. It can be very scary even in a kayak o...

Beginner’s Luck

I decided I wanted to get into fishing to have something to do with my kids. Went out alone for the first time just to test the waters. Thanks to the tips on the site, I got 3 spotties in 3 hours and quit when something strong snapped my leader.

Re: Shimano MGL reels in saltwater?

I never but wouldn’t be hesitating to use one if I have a chance too as long as proper care given after each time (rinse, air dry and oil where needed) Nowadays, in my humble opinion, MGL spool is just thin wall aluminum with special design holes to save some weight. Even Shimano now advertises Meta...

Expanded access to Vacation Isle

Paradise Point resort on Mission Bay has violated the state Coastal Act for years. That’s about to change That's the title of the U-T story...you can google it for details. THE GIST: There's gonna be more unimpeded shore access all the way around Vacation Isle. And maybe more paths through the resor...

These are the moments I fish for..

Took a little trip down to my favorite body of water this morning, 9/10. The conditions were kind of uncanny when I arrived at first light. Dead calm, overcast. Seems like an invitation to throw topwater, right? Wrong! Threw a variety of topwater baits and a few subsurface options with nary a bite f...

Big Bay Tropics Style 9-10-23

Got on it from the Natty City ramp around 7. It was calm, smooth, with a hint of tropical rain here and there. Steady spotty bite on plastics/underspins at Square Mile. Figured there might also be a channel bite and slid out to the main just south of the bridge. Instantly rewarded with a better grad...
