Re: It's official

Somewhere in the land of a lake not far from Ramona lies a giant group of thousands of slimy green critters swimming around in a tight throng laughing their gills off at a solo human in a rubber lounge chair flailing about WAYYY above them with a stick and string in his hand and phony offerings. Unk...

So long San Diego bass fishing......sort of

Home pond picture.png So long San Diego bass fishing......sort of Greetings all, Having been a dedicated San Diego bass fisherman since the late '70s, I have finally escaped the beautiful Southern California weather for country life in Western Kentucky. We were able to close on a 25-acre, 4 bedroom...

Nice spotty!!!!

“I didn’t think you would catch anything here!” Um, ah...it's connected to the ocean. Where does the CEO think fish come from?

9/14- Return to the SD River

After picking up some dinks yesterday at Murray, I decided to try somewhere different this morning. With a slightly cooler weather forecast, I headed down to the San Diego river. Last time I was there was in early June and with no launch or permit fees...I figured what the heck. Not much was going o...

Autumn fishing on the high prairie 2023

We have had a couple of snow flurries up here in Wyoming now, but winter hasn't set in like it did last year, when temperatures dipped to single digits and the snow hung around until May. No more fishing in the Uinta mountains across the border in Utah though. They definitely are covered in snow, an...

San V Mon 12/11

Slow day for me today. There was absolutely NO breeze today which made it really tough to get bit once the sun got high. Managed 3 early fish on Flukes with the biggest going 4.36. Best fish I’ve gotten out of there in a while. Caught it in about 6” of water busting shad. Definitely less fish in the...

Re: All these lagoons…

As you should! In years past I have fished the San Dieguito River, Batiquitos, Agua Hedionda, and Buena Vista for various fresh and saltwater species. More recent development has restricted access but there are definitely fishies in there.

Re: All these lagoons…

Hedionda is open for fishing but had a massive fish kill with the big red tide a few years ago. It's making a comeback but it's significantly slower than it used to be. Batiquitos and San Diguito I think you are only allowed to fish west of the coast highway. Man would I love to get my kayak into Ba...

Re: All these lagoons…

On Buena Vista there used to be a trail down to the south side of the farthest west part. You could catch small bass for hours on anything with a bit of flash. Rooster tails were the best. Did see a guy land about an 8 pounder there once. The feeder into the east end of Batiquitos from the golf cour...

Re: All these lagoons…

I used to fish Agua Hedionda's outer lagoon. Shore fishing is legal. If the lagoon's being dredged (happens every few years, don't know if it'll happen this year), it stirs up the food and the bite can be insane for sargo and spotfin croaker and other species. Emphasis on "can be." It can ...

Re: Little staycation

Had to laugh. My boss gave me a GC for Ruth Chris last year for $50.00. I’m not sure if he knows that will get me a baked potato and an iced tea over there😂

Missing the Southern Cal weather - sorta?

Greetings all, It's been a few months since I last posted. Kentucky country life is outstanding. It's nice you're able to fish and shoot on your property (the ranch) with zero repercussions (except scaring off a couple of the neighbor's cows). I've stocked over 15 lbs of fathead minnows and 100 blue...

Re: Missing the Southern Cal weather - sorta?

Very cool, I'm so jealous. Hope you get to stay warm. We just had a huge rainstorm and some parts of SD were literally under water. House with 4ft of water flooding into them... check out the news. I hope everyone on this forum is okay. Have you been following BamaBass's pond build? In his latest ep...

San V 3/30 Father/ son outing

My son came into town for the Easter weekend so we headed out into a rainy morning to see what we could find. Only three boats out there that I know of. Headed to the scene of the crime of my last trip, Barona of course. Started the day out with a solid 3.7 on my third cast with a Senko. Picked up a...

North County SD

Went fishing about five or six times over the past few weeks for my first time in years. Happy to say that there are plenty more fish biting these days than two years go, when I left off. I've only caught BSP and Walleye SP, but I'll take it. Each session has been yielding at least a fish every 20 m...
