Re: Welcome to SDFish Forums
Thanks whoever brought this back! I'll do my best to post and share some trips. Can't wait for Barrett to open. Hope parking won't be too much of an issue with the high water. Cheers everyone!

I promised I'd post more on here when it got brought back so here's the scoop from Sunday! Got a late start on the water around 2. Started out trying some new tactics with squarebills around pigs for no love. Tried the ned for a bit with a few short bites. Switched to the fly rod and headed up the r...

Re: 10/24 - SD River(What the heck!)
I'm not here to defend the water authority, but I may have some insight. I live in a building that's 50+ years old and I'm unfortunately the HOA president. We've got a limited budget and our owners aren't in favor of a large dues increases so we have to be very strategic on where and when we can do ...

Re: 11/27-Back to the SD River
I wonder if all the el cap draining created cold tailwater flow that drew it in? Combine that with a salmon whose navigation is busted, seems crazy but I suppose it's feasible.

Re: 11/27-Back to the SD River
I'm not saying it happened or didn't but there's been so many crazy things I've seen and heard over the years, I'd believe it. Guys catching redfish on cape cod, bonito outside boston harbor, sailfish in the cape cod canal.

Re: Native Rainbow Trout
That's great stuff. Remember to wet your hand before handling the fish so you can protect their slime coat. I only know of one spot for sure that's got em but I suspect there are a handful of creeks around where if you get up into the right areas you can find wild trout. We've just gotta protect wha...

Re: All these lagoons…
Hedionda is open for fishing but had a massive fish kill with the big red tide a few years ago. It's making a comeback but it's significantly slower than it used to be. Batiquitos and San Diguito I think you are only allowed to fish west of the coast highway. Man would I love to get my kayak into Ba...

Re: What kayak do you fish out of?
I use a hobie lynx for freshwater and bays and an outback for la jolla and if someone comes with me. If I have a guest, I take the outback loaded down with all the gear so I can keep them in a minimalist setup and it's less intimidating for a new kayak fisher to not worry about losing things or gett...

Re: Cumberland Float Tube - Brand New in box
I scooped a fairly well used one of these over the summer and it's very comfortable and light. Hope someone gives it a good home.

Re: PB Striped Bass
Cool I guess I’ll eventually get one. I grew up fishing stripers in Mass and still love going after them as they can be caught almost any way.

Re: Native Rainbow Trout
I just watched the tight loops video on san pedro martir. Pretty cool stuff. I doubt I'll ever get up there and even if I did, I'd may catch one or two and then leave, but it's cool to know it's there. I wonder if there's still grizzlies up there too. I hear occasionally people tell stories of seein...

Re: The Flaming Gorge finally thaws out. 04/10/24
Trout in big reservoirs will often take on a sea run like appearance. In the case of browns, they start to look more like a landlocked atlantic salmon which they are related to. In some areas where they share watersheds in the northeast, there are even signs to help people tell the difference. Rainb...

Re: The Flaming Gorge finally thaws out. 04/10/24
Uintas for trout will be quantity over quality and provide much better mountain outdoors solitude for sure. I get it. There's some really cool high elevation hikes up there where you can find lakes with tigers and even Arctic grayling! Lots of brookies in the creeks too and if you're lucky you'll f...

Re: Vail Lake
I fished a Heroes on the water tournament there and came in third a few years back and it was tough until I cracked the code with 20 minutes left and then started slaying. Once I figured it out it was pretty good. Shortly after it got closed and I still haven't been able to redeem my free kayak fish...
