Sdfish.com had a lot of great content and contributors but got toxic at the end. Good to see this site and hope it stays positive.

Oxbow Fishing the Colorado River and Lake Mohave

https://youtu.be/p-6rxPwxobs?si=ka-kLZeLFj8VNK0Q Hey all one of my goals for the new year is to step out and try lots of new fishing spots. I headed to Lake Mohave over the Christmas holidays and ended up getting blown out for the most part, literally. The day I got there the wind was blowing 30-40...

San V 2/26 Way better than I expected.

After the fish were hammered with 110 teams in the Anglers Marine tournament on Saturday, my expectations were set pretty low. The morning started out about how I thought it would. There were only about 6 boats when I launched but one of them ended up on the spot I wanted to start on. No biggie, mov...

Confidence Baits or New Baits: Which Do I Fish?

https://youtu.be/FRH0713MlFA?si=CXmy52JYgvHrnWIW Hey all I hope all the lines are tight and the drags are screaming. I really had a mental splinter this week deciding where to fish. I know that shouldn't be that big a deal but look I'm sure you guys get it. Do I fish here or there? Once a decision h...

Lake of D & K: Where did the water go?

Well it was a 77 mile trip to the lake and back home.....or was that just a large farm pond I fished at today??? Last year the water level at the lake of Donald & Kiefer was so high that you had to launch up near the concession stand as the parking lot was all under water. It was absolutely shoc...

Badly kept secret!

Sutherland opened today and everybody seemed to know. I wrote a longer report but touched the wrong button and it vanished! Not as easy as it used to be, or I am dumber!
Short version: Water is cold, fish are in the stick-ups and seem to be few.

Sutherland is there to collect the water that falls out of the sky and deliver it to the people of SD.
Why deliver so much? Why none last year? Seems there would be middle ground?

Re: Lake of D & K: Where did the water go?

I imagine the people who managed these reservoirs when they were built didn’t have the same worldview as the people who manage them now. The people running them now are more concerned with what kind of stick figure is on the bathroom doors at the reservoirs instead of how much water is in them.

Different week, different pattern!

20240308_085935.jpg Fished my hometown lake the last 2 fridays and ended up with 2 very different patterns. Last week I was catching them on the outside of the stickups, today they had moved to barren flats. Last week was pre-front, today was post-front, with a 2' rise in the lake. This time of the...

Re: Different week, different pattern!

Impressive! I made my way up there yesterday as well. Only my second time up there ever, and its been a few years, I forgot how picturesque and just lovely it is! I only caught 1 fish though. It was a very fat healthy 2.5-3#er, but thought I'd get a few more bites. Oh well still a very enjoyable day...

Hodges report March 9

Hi all, Hodges was very nice today. Got out in some really cool fog early in the morning and started on my way. Almost instantly I got a sample size bass on a crankbait that was very ambitious for a fish of his size, he wasn't the only sample size fish I got, I had a couple, they don't figure into t...

But did it fight good? The weight?

3/10-Ended up at Lake of D & K

Well I stayed up late(1a.m.) and with the clocks pushed ahead the next thing I knew it was morning. I didn't sleep well and woke up a number of times and kept thinking about fishing even though I had not planned to fish today. After breakfast I quickly made a decision to fish and started gathering a...

Wish I would have gone there today. I spent 10 hours at Hodges and ended up with only catching one grebe on a crank. Great job! But did it fight good? The weight? The fight was not that of a pelican but was ok. The guy did stab me multiple time in the hand with its beak. The thing is so sharp! No j...

El Capitan report March 15

Woke up early AM to sound of pitter patter on my roof and considered calling it a day, but John and I still headed out to El Cap for a nice day. It was freezing cold probably in the 40Fs, we layered several sweatshirts and whatever else and we were still pretty numb. Wind was not helping. Water temp...

Re: Lake of D & K: Where did the water go?

I would like to know who uses the excuse "Southern California is in a drought and water needs to be conserved." Clearly that isn't the case anymore not because they are draining the lakes because the "dam is too old to hold." If it was such a real problem, they wouldn't continue...

3/18-Calm before the Storm

I wanted to fish this morning and even with the threat of severe thundershowers, I figured a few hours is better than nothing, Loaded my kayak on the truck and didn't bring much tackle but had rain pants and jacket packed just in case. When I got to the San Diego river is was clam and actually clear...

Re: Hodges report March 20

A lot of funny things with our local reservoirs compared to virtually everywhere else. It’s an absolute JOKE. Go big CA government, where your best interest is the last thing on their mind.
