Re: giant bass pictures???
Is that the fish Snag Long posed with? Pretty funny, but no. I caught that at Lake Miramar in 1998 on a live waterdog. 19lbs 4oz. One of my favorite fishing memories of all time. And it jumped 3 times! That’s awesome. That pic had the same patina as that one that long didn’t catch but posed with fo...

A little El Cap action....
I haven't been to El Cap in quite awhile, been waiting for my favorite time of year! I started out throwing a small jerkbait, picked up 5 or 6 fish not far from the launch. When it slowed, I moved up to the north arm in search of breaking fish, but it was all quiet when I arrived! I worked some shor...

Re: giant bass pictures???
Not as big as the giants in this thread but the biggest bass I’ve caught since 1991, my 5-13 from Cap in September. That means I have a whole bunch more big ones to catch if I want to catch up with the rest of you! But, I look forward to the challenge.

Re: giant bass pictures???
There are, or at least WERE, some big bass in the SD River. This is my PB of 12lb 8oz from the Santee area way back when.

10/10-Quick SD River session
It seemed like forever since I fished last. Tied up with lots of things to take care of as it was one thing after another and I really needed to get back on the water. Took care of some business this morning and rushed home and figured I would head up to Murray for a few hours in my kayak. Oh wait.....

Wed. at Otay
Fished sunrise to sunset, first time doing that in awhile, and first time to Otay in awhile too. Fog was sooooo pretty that I found it hard not to stop and make some art with my camera. Not many folks out today. Warm and sunny after fog burned off. BIte was tough, as I'd heard, but got into some top...

Hodges Crappie Hunt October 22
Went on Sunday to Lake Hodges with the Hobie looking for some crappie. Got there late after breakfast, like 7:15 am and picked up a nice one on my second cast. Water was off-color coffee with 1' of visibility on top, and the deepest channel straight west of the ramp is about 10' deep now out by the ...

Delta baby
After teaching a photo class in Carmel for a few days I got a chance to hit the Delta again. Sunrise to sunset yesterday produce three limits, jerkbaits, gunfish and boot tail flukes- fun times.
No monsters, but they’re always there lurking.

Great day at the Murr 11/1/23
Had a great time on Lake Murray today. The big schools of bass are starting to break up. I caught 6 like this working the edges of tullies with jigs and Senkos.

San Vicente Boilers (Video)
Fished San V a few times this past week and both days had a fun bite on breaking fishing all around the lake. Best action was before the breeze picked up from 8-12pm. Quick accurate casts and small flukes worked on or just under the surface was the key to success. A few fish also came on the dead st...

San V on top
If you're going to chase the breakers, you're going to need some patience(sorry Vinny)! I got on the water at 6:00, with a decent Santa Ana blowing. Since I was only going after topwater fish, that wasn't really helpful! About 8:00, the wind turned around to an onshore breeze and the fish started to...

Ultralight fishing at Otay
Today was ultralight day with a seven and a half foot Diawa Presso, and 1/16th oz ball head jigs. I paired the tiny jig heads with 2.5 inch mini swimbaits. I caught 6 nice bass in the the 2-3 pound range and a Crappie. So much fun on ultralight gear. So much so I am thinking of springing for a quali...

San V report on 11/13/23
Hello all, Headed out to San V with John W today. Got started around 0730, because it's cold and there's no hurry when it's windy in the morning. Plugged around most of the day mixing small hardbaits (me) and softbaits (John). Not a whole lot of activity. Did pick up an impressive bluegill that nail...

Tuesday at the Cap...change of plans
I haven't been to El Cap in a couple weeks, so I thought I would give it a shot. My last time there I got into some fun topwater, so this time I set up 5 rods for topwater and dartheads! So you can guess what happened...no topwater! I spent a couple hours searching for anything on top and found noth...

Autumn fishing on the high prairie 2023
We have had a couple of snow flurries up here in Wyoming now, but winter hasn't set in like it did last year, when temperatures dipped to single digits and the snow hung around until May. No more fishing in the Uinta mountains across the border in Utah though. They definitely are covered in snow, an...

Re: Tuesday at the Cap...change of plans
Thanks for the report. Heading there this weekend but could not find much as far as what was going on there. Great job making it happen! I didn't see alot of fish being caught...the weather changes and the City draining the lake again makes for some unstable conditions! I went back to basics but ev...

It displaces eel grass a...
