Drainage ditch cats...

Why yes, I am sorting my old photo files. One local creek has plenty of bullheads, but never encountered a bigger cat after some 15 years of scratching around. 160124 catfish.jpg Same spot a year later. At first I thought it was the same fish, but it was a nearly two inches shorter... \ 140427 20 in...

Re: Spotty Fishing San Diego Bay- A-rig and Ultralight

I have had days where I absolutely nailed them at low tide in the channels next to flats using a crankbait, outside the weedline. Thanks, I'll have to try that. Do they move from the flats into the deeper channels at low tide? Have you had success fishing at high tide? Yes, they won't stay on the s...

Barrett report August 5th

Hi everyone, Here's my report of the day. Woke up and was moving like a man of a much more advanced age, so it took more than the usual cup of coffee to get myself in the truck. Got on the water about 30 minutes late, But it still was dark and strangely cool out. Pedaled over to Hauser, with my basi...

The BFs "Craze"

Saw in iCast that many brands are releasing "BFS" gear. See a bunch of guys using 5 - 7 pound FC. I remember back in the day, guys super tuning old Abu Garcia Ambassadors, to use with light ine. I dunno about you guys, but I grew up fishing LA city ponds, which equates to very pressured fi...

These guys ate a tiny little underspin (which has also caught bass for me around Shad spawn time)

8/22- Miramar A.M. Bass Frenzy

Cheating on a person is bad and if going behind Lake Murray's back to fish Lake Miramar is bad....I am guilty. Headed up to Miramar once again with my kayak. It has been so much fun fishing up there and just had to go back. Had a little late start as I did not get on the water till almost 7am and no...

Barrett report August 23rd

Hi everyone. For those who are wondering, the road to Barrett is just fine, no wash outs and it appears someone may have dragged it also, so that's nice. Got there a little later 0530 and took my time getting into the water at 0600. First thing is the water is 4 degrees cooler than it was last week....

Wednesday 30 kayak report

Got there @5:30, and you can feel the heat coming. Headed back to Hauser picking up one on popper, another on a crawler. Very slow until busters came up, five other boats around and we sat waited for them to bust around us. It was fun if you can land on top of them, jerk bait and flukes worked for m...

8/30 Report (Back for Seconds...)

Very slow start to the day, we just had a couple bass and a bluegill on the boat by 9am. Was at the end of Hauser when the breakers showed up around that time. There are 5 boats (and one kayak, I think that was you 619bassin ) - and we were all sharing the sporadic surges of bass that came up to the...

Apple bottom vines

Heres some recent shortfin corvina pics. I got the SFC bug for a couple months and let it interrupt my green fish game. It was fun, but after dropping a 9lb largemouth this weekend right at my feet, I'm kinda over it. Goin back to freshy. A couple of these fish were 26-27" the rest were medium ...

These are the moments I fish for..

Took a little trip down to my favorite body of water this morning, 9/10. The conditions were kind of uncanny when I arrived at first light. Dead calm, overcast. Seems like an invitation to throw topwater, right? Wrong! Threw a variety of topwater baits and a few subsurface options with nary a bite f...

Big Bay Tropics Style 9-10-23

Got on it from the Natty City ramp around 7. It was calm, smooth, with a hint of tropical rain here and there. Steady spotty bite on plastics/underspins at Square Mile. Figured there might also be a channel bite and slid out to the main just south of the bridge. Instantly rewarded with a better grad...

Desert adventures 9/24

With my favorite local body of water holding a two day tourney for the weekend I decided to change up the routine and forego my normal Sunday AM trip in favor of hitting the desert canals. Day started off great with my first Smallie catch ever on a crankbait. Got two dink largies on the same crank i...

Re: giant bass pictures???

Love to see those big bass! Even better to catch one! Is that the fish Snag Long posed with? Pretty funny, but no. I caught that at Lake Miramar in 1998 on a live waterdog. 19lbs 4oz. One of my favorite fishing memories of all time. And it jumped 3 times! I would of had to change my shorts 3 times!!!
