Re: Lake Hodges- Double Dipping!

I fish every 30 min, not too shabby for an afternoon bite.

4/24 Murray-Deep again

Decided to head over to Murray mid morning and was the only boat launch. A lot can change since my last fish report from there 9 days ago, but I decided to stick to fishing deeper waters(20'-35') again. "It is crazy!" McFish told me recently . "This is time of the year the bass should...

Re: Lake Hodges- Double Dipping!

Definitely prefer mornings=) I have had some amazing afternoon bites, where the fish just turn on out of nowhere.

You got me wanting some of those Sierra Nevada Summerfest!

Re: Lake Hodges- Double Dipping!

Great to get out there with you. Sure was fun to get fish right away too. Have to appreciate your commitment to fish at dawn with me and then go teach, come back and fish for the evening. I want that kind of energy. :)

Jumped on a flight to the Islands, and look what they were offering on the Alaska Airlines 737.

Big'un Hodges 4/28

Caught several clones and this behemoth at Hodges this morning. My scale sucks but definitely in the 8lb range. I debated on going to Otay today as it's much closer to me. I'm glad I chose to make the drive! It was great to see Pourboy out there too. Good times! IMG_20240428_070629956_HDR.jpg

Re: Yuma PB

Its been years since I caught a double digit bass. I saw a fish that looked decent sized. I jigged the area for a while with no bites. I grabbed another rod with a slug. Twitched it through the trees, and BAM! Now im fighting a giant. I kept expecting her to come off because she was so big. She sta...

First day out and over 70 fish in 4 hours

Yesterday my partner and I caught over 145 fish using small finesse lures that included bass (largest was 2.5 lb, 4 pickerel (largest 2 3/4' long), many crappie, yellow and white perch and sunfish. Before we launched the boat, I made a few suggestions to my 78 y.o. partner's tackle. 1. switch to bra...

FINALLY! A couple of chonkies from the Gorge

Today was the day that I decided to try out a spot that I had scouted out back in February at Flaming Gorge. It's always trout season up here, but spring brings the smallies around the rock piles, and I have always wanted to catch a small mouth bass, especially seeing as how I miss the green bassies...

First time at El Cap

Well I have to say that I really liked my first trip to El Cap! Probably the nicest day weather wise in a long time and sometimes that means...not great fishing. But that was not the case. I don't have a boat (actually I do have a canoe, but that doesn't count) so I decided to hire a guide, what a g...

Opening Day 2024 at the Big B

Had a lot of fun today at the Big B. I would call it quality over quantity. We still got about 60 between us that included a dozen four pounders and a nice five pounder. A lot of three pounders also. The topwater bite was just okay on the PopR and the whopper plopper. I switched to the flipping the ...

Barrett opener kayak report

Met Dave and Joe and was on the water @4 am thanks to Jose getting the crowd in, it was busy. Headed to Hauser and started with the popper in the dark and got a nice 5lb on the second cast. Top water was working all day for me, popper and crawler. Did find some busters on jb. Similar to last year, i...

Barrett Opener boat report

Arrived at 4:30am and seemed like perfect timing. No dust, no vehicles driving in at that time and rather wide open parking. Learned that they are now only doing 15 boats (with 5 on deck for backup/emergencies) versus 25 in years’ past. Noticed a slew of tubers but because of the lake being so full ...

Re: Spawn on?

Spot On with the Spawn On DarkShadow!! I confirm the same on the opener. Water clarity and the late burnoff made an amazing Big B aquarium below!! Polarized lenses and the right light angle lit up nesting sites everywhere! I could site fish with top water gear for a good hour. Enjoy your day tomorro...

May 4

Pretty fun morning at the B for me. I had 67 by 2pm when I decided to go home. Nothing over 3 but the topwater was great for me in the morning. The key to the topwater for me was finding the bait. It was an ok bite but it really took off for me when I spotted the wolfpacks. I would get 3-6 bass real...
