San Vicente Kayak Panfish May 19

My second trip to San V this year, and found the bluegill and redear biting pretty good in the late afternoon. Even some lowly bass. Dropshotting half a crawler gets it done. All fish were released. 20230519_174210 Redear Catch Capture Bendo.JPG 20230519_174210 Redear Catch Capture.JPG 20230519_1742...

San V...summer coming!

You can't tell by the cold, drizzly weather..but the fish told me today! I thought for some reason when I hit San V on Monday morning, that I could take up where I left off two Mondays ago..wrong, wrong, wrong! I started flipping senkos between the brush in 4'-6' of water and soon realized that the ...

Re: San V...summer coming!

Yep those 8-13” thin Senko fish in the trees were the pattern for me a couple weekends ago out there. Stark difference from Cap right now, there’s Bait boiling all over in open water there.

Wednesday 24 report

Got to the gate at 4 and already 10 cars in front. The weather was nice on the lake, no fog. Headed to back of Hauser and started with the popper for 10, lost a 3lb at the kayak, barbless! Pretty much same pattern as last week, daylight came switched to jerk bait, spinner, crank bait for another doz...

Re: Lake Hodges Re-Opener

Great video and catching! Hodges was my late 80’s, 90’s go-to lake and even though its a fraction of its former self, you brought back memories of the hot morning bites with cranks and blades parallel to the banks, and seemingly a better grade of fish. Oh and just when I too was wondering where the ...

Re: Lake Hodges Re-Opener

Love Hodges. One of the reaction bait lakes in SD as far as I’m concerned. Hundreds of square bill, crankbait, chatter bait and blade fish caught there over the years including my 2 biggest fish 10.3 and a 10.4 caught during a tourney. I hope to find my way there this weekend

5/27 report

Got to the gate around 4. Gate was just opened and we were about 8th to drive in it seemed like. Had a boat which was nice. Parking up by the bathroom because dock is so high. Motored to Hauser and stopped at a pinned location but it was totally different than years past. Threw all types of topwater...

Re: Hodges reopener

IMG_8436.jpg Here are a couple of pictures of the fish I promised to upload from yesterday. After reading the responses of the catches that were made about the sizes of fish caught leads me to the conclusion that the fish are highly concentrated in the water that is left and it does give me a glimm...

Barrett report June 3

Hi all, Got on the lake a little before 5AM. Zipped across the lake from pigs and by 6AM I had 9 in the kayak and thought I couldn't miss. 6 on crankbait and 3 on jigs. Then I pretty much hit the brakes.Over the next 4-5 hours, I pulled in 6 more full size clones and 2 of this year's models. I'm not...

Can you believe it? San Vicente Jun 5th

Hard to believe that today was my first time out this year. After going my whole life with excellent health, things have gone from bad to since I turned eighty. I really wanted to get out, actually I needed to get out. I got my boat out of mothballs and found that my trolling motor wasn't working. I...

San V Monday chow time...

20230605_092419.jpg June gloom..just what the fish ordered! Water temp 70-73, air temp not that nice! A stiff breeze blowing most of the day. I got on a solid pattern right from the start, working a dropshot in 15'-20', off steeper banks with rocks! I brought 23 fish to the boat, not counting a few...
