Re: SAN DIEGO SHOCKED!: BASS ANGLER BAGS SALMON IN SAN DIEGO RIVER
Love stories like this! That’s what I have always loved about fishing, you just never know what you’re going to reel in. I’ve caught several turtles, bullfrogs, and even a king snake over the years in our lakes and so many unexpected fish in the ocean it’s impossible to remember them all.

Re: SAN DIEGO SHOCKED!: BASS ANGLER BAGS SALMON IN SAN DIEGO RIVER
In 2006 I landed a Coho at the mouth of SD Bay on a tube bait. Needless to say I was very surprised.

Starting to feel alot like Winter....
You can't tell winter's coming by the daytime temps, but at 6:30 out on San V...I was feeling it! Air temp started out at 42, water temps 60-62. A nice little breeze out of the east didn't help. I was expecting some breaking fish, but found none after an extensive search! I brought out the dropshot,...

San V 12/7 totally different day
Today was a totally different day from Monday. Not nearly the amount of fish busting shad in the bushes but there were still some sporadic boils. Fished from 6:30- 3pm. Not a lot of bites but the quality was good. Ended up with 9 in the boat. Best 5 went 14 1/2 lbs. Things were totally backwards tod...

Giant Blue Catfish on Light Tackle
Got out early at Lower Otay on Wednesday. Crowds were light and I picked up a few bass early AM on finesse swimbaits over the top of the grass. Once the sun came up things slowed down shallow so I went looking for Shad schools out deep. Picked up a couple more 1-2lb bass down in the 40ft range befor...

Go to bait
What is the one bait you turn to when you just need to get a bite? For me it’s either a 4” Senko T rigged weightless or it’s the old school Fluttercraft worm on a drop shot. I feel like I can always buy a few bites on one of those two baits. What’s yours?

No spotties, but…
Fished H.I. this morning, mostly in the deeper channels. Spotties were a no-show, but between my friend and I we caught 3 sculpin, 1 hali, 1 sand bass (small), 5 mackerel. This was our first outing where not a single spottie was in the mix.

Mission Bay Spotties 12/12
Had a great morning in Mission Bay today. Caught and released 11 nice spotties. Three inch paddletails on keel-weighted hooks slowly pulled through the grass on the bottom was the ticket today. I was fishing an ultralight rig with 4 pound test, and had to make sure my drag was set well because a...

Re: New Loveland Updates
Getting very promising feedback from California Waterboards on Loveland's future, including balancing beneficial uses and environmental care. DFW is one of the participants in taking care of Loveland now. There won't be punishment for what Sweetwater did, but it seems everybody knows it can be done ...

Re: Lake Mohave Questions
It seems like most S.D. fisherman don't go much north of Havasu! I know more L.A. guys go to Mohave. You might ask the question on an L.A. fishing site.

Otay Sunday 12/17
Had an awesome morning ultralight fishing this morning at Otay. Caught over 30 chunky bluegills. I was jigging 3i nch Yamamoto shad shaped worms and a small 2inch sinking jerkbait. What a great time! https://i.servimg.com/u/f20/20/42/12/38/img_2043.jpg https://i.servimg.com/u/f20/20/42/12/38/img_...

Ditch Pickles in the desert
Been focusing my efforts east of SD recently since the bite from shore locally has been pretty tough. A short Cap trip on Saturday that produced one clone bass reinforced that point for me. With my brother back in town permanently we decided to hit the desert Friday and Sunday to see what we could c...

Big Bay 12-17
Thought we’d try the opposite tide swing from last trip, low to high. Unfortunately couldn’t find a steady bite in the usual spots. Decided to mix things up and yoyo a blade bait, different from the heavier leadheads and paddle tail plastics I usually fish deep. Started getting spotty bites in the 3...

First Time BFS today at Murray
My new reel arrived yesterday. I pre-ordered it over a month ago. It's an Ark Gravity BFS reel. I paired it with a Ray Fishing 7 ft Tarantula finesse rod, and spooled it with 6lb. nanobraid and a 6lb. flourocarbon leader. If you'd have told me yesterday that I could cast a tiny 1/16 oz. (or small...

Three Bs San Diego Bay Dec 19
Got onto San Diego Bay this morning for a pre storm session as well as testing a TFO NXT Black Label 6wt rod. Not very breezy and mostly dead calm from 0800 to 1000. No rain. Small tidal change. Fished from about 0645 to 1030. Pretty good catching on the last part of the outgoing tide but things slo...
