A spring day on San V...not!

I got to the lake at 6:15, under dark, cold, cloudy, drizzly skies..which pretty much remained that way for the next 6 hours!! The lake seems about a month behind with the unseasonably cold spring we're having! I ended the day with 14 fish, mostly small males which I hadn't planned on fishing for! N...

Re: Otay- 100% FULL

Otay Michael could catch a frog or popper fish out of my birdbath! I expect him to show up at my koi ponds!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Maybe some truth to that good buddy. Got top last week at El Capitan and again today. I’m warming up the gunfish and poppers fairly well! Haven’t seen anybody else throwing top yet!! D...

El Cap 4/23/23

Fun little trip to El Cap this morning. Night and day from last weekend were I managed 2 fish in 2 days. Mostly worm fish, with an underspin bonus. Tight to or in cover was the key for me. Managed a mission to get one of my catches out of a bush that involved me keeping pressure on the fish for 5 or...

Heartbreak lake

The heartbreak is you get turned around on the quagga mussel inspection 90% of the time from a ridiculous reason. Example, a eucalyptus leaf that fell in your boat the morning you drove up and you missed it. Or condensation. After much praying on the way there, we passed the inspection. What a relie...

Re: Murray 4/26-Mixed it up

Hit Murray this morning(like you guys did not see that coming...ha ha) and it was cool and overcast. I heard of a few topwater stirrings from my buddy Larry who wrangled in some recent topwater bass, so I was ready. It is still a little early for topwater and should be going off a lot better as we h...

Re: Clips or No Clips

IMHO, no clips. Fresh knots can be a blessing in disguise. If you need a loop for a lure to swim free like a jerk bait or top water, learn the rapala knot. Super quick. And you can even tie a double rapala knot for heavy stuff with lighter line. Never had the rapala knot fail. My pb 13lb bass was on...

Re: Pro Bass Angler Forfeits $100K in Winnings When It’s Discovered He Didn’t Have a Fishing License

Out of state licenses should be included in tournament fees. Just like lake fees here.
Most guys come from out of town.
That sucks

Santee Lakes Bluegill Blossoming

Lately I have been visiting Santee Lakes and catching bass, but also watching the newly hatched bluegill grow from one inch to more than three inches. They always seem to be feeding on heavy concentrations of freshwater plankton and also on hatching bugs in the heat of the day. They are usually stay...

Dixon lake Bass report

Dixon Lake update on Bass. This fish had a few eager friends, but she was the most photogenic. I was just walking the shore pounding along with a #7 Rapala and they were very cooperative. I'd like to say that's a surfcasting rod and she was huge, but it's really about a 20" fish, which is still...

Cap on Fri.

Tried my luck there on Friday- Sunrise to sunset. Reports from other anglers- it was slow going! Fisheromen joined me for first half of the day and a different friend the second half. Paul and I only got two the first half, one each, and I got four more the second half. All topwater but one bedfish ...

San see 5/1/23 monday

Arrived at the lake 6:30 looked as if I was fishing a private lake, maybe 10 boats. For a spring unheard of. Started chasing the bass, after 23 all cruisers it was time to move on, Got on the red ear, spent the rest of the day catching them. If you like having a fish trying to pull the rod out of yo...
