Re: Barrett report August 12th

On my end, Today was an experimental one where I tried to get into a larger grade of fish. I started off strong with 7 fish on the jig out of 20 feet of water, got 3 more on flylined 6 inch Tiki Shad’s,(Similar to Yamamoto Shad Worms) they sink enticingly and fast on a 4/0 EWG heavy flipping hook, I...

Re: Rain advice

It would have to rain quite a bit to start runoff that would really impact the road. There's a couple spots that I think may need attention for this winter, because they might wash out. One actually has a cone by it. Weather underground is predicting less than an inch of rain. But if you look at the...

Hey, isn't that the lure you lent me? It does work! Nice report and nice work finding the fish in the heat.

Re: Wednesday 8/16 HOT 🥵

Sweet. you missed the excitement, weather wise. whitecaps and northern winds and 2' rollers from nowhere for 1/2 hour, tons of thunder and lightening, none hit me! Motored over to the leeward side, and bite was good right then and right after, top. Landed 11 for 1/2 days work, beginner with me got 3...

Barrett report August 19th

Hello all, It's posted in the forum elsewhere that Barrett ( all city lakes ) are closed tomorrow and Monday. My opinion is that's a great move. I went out this morning around 0500. On the way to the lake we were all treated to a pretty impressive lightning show. It seemed to be up in the clouds and...

Great Early!

Got on it early with a spectacular lightning show motoring out in Hauser. The pics don’t do it justice! Anyway as often happens with approaching storms, the bite was good. Got first and biggest fish on a new 4 bladed white spinnerbait, followed by more on flukes, splitshot worms deeper, then the boi...

Re: Barrett report August 9th

Good seeing you guys out there that day, my buddy and I were in the boat. We started in pine, had some good blow ups on a popper, couple 3+ lb bass. Missed a couple good ones also, but that bite on the wolf packs was pretty cool. They were all over the jerkbait. Think we had 60 total ( I had 43 ) 30...

8/22- Miramar A.M. Bass Frenzy

Cheating on a person is bad and if going behind Lake Murray's back to fish Lake Miramar is bad....I am guilty. Headed up to Miramar once again with my kayak. It has been so much fun fishing up there and just had to go back. Had a little late start as I did not get on the water till almost 7am and no...

Re: Wednesday 8/16 HOT 🥵

That two for one gill shot is priceless. I cherish the gill fishing at Barrett ALMOST as much as the bass fishing. We got into a gill bite in 2019 and were catching 1.25 to 1.75 gills at will. I also love the crappies when you get into the schools and have pulled in 10 in just a couple minutes. The ...

Re: Barrett report August 23rd

Chuck said it was slow and it sure was. Ended with five or six on top but very nice models. Jules said a bunch of guys reported skunks.

Yes, Lori’s husband dragged the roads after the rain. They have a small window to do it while it’s damp she said.

Re: Barrett report August 23rd

PS, had hoped for higher water levels, which I did not see. When asking Jules he said the powers that be thought they'd better release water just in case. Bummer.

Still dang pretty there. Saw a school of turkeys running down the road on the way in, and a coyote was hanging not far away!

Barrett report August 26th

Hi all, Here's what I found today. Got on the water around 0530, it was 75-76 water temp and a light wind. Pedaled to Wilson's cove for a change, picked up one bass on a jig. Headed along the shoreline towards pine arm. Picked up 5 bass on the popper. Pedaled over to Hauser. Found fish in the back, ...

8/30 Report (Back for Seconds...)

Very slow start to the day, we just had a couple bass and a bluegill on the boat by 9am. Was at the end of Hauser when the breakers showed up around that time. There are 5 boats (and one kayak, I think that was you 619bassin ) - and we were all sharing the sporadic surges of bass that came up to the...

8/31- Miramar: One Last Time

With Miramar set to close to boats, kayaks, kayaks after Labor Day, for who knows how long, to work on a big project, I decided to hit it one more time. Water level had dropped since my last trip on the 22nd and when I arrived a guy pulled back too far after his buddy launched his boat and his trail...

A bit different today! Sept 2

The lake seemed a bit different today! First, my 7 and 9 year old sons fished the pants off of me and my buddy. Largely because they realized fairly quickly that the Crappie and Blue Gill were big and biting, while the bass fishing was more slow going (for us) than in recent visits. They landed 18 b...

Re: A bit different today! Sept 2

Great jobs all and WOW those are some healthy crappie!! And if you don’t realize it yet, you have two boys that want to go every possible chance and will soon be catching more than ALL of us lol 👏
