7/8 Mucho Viento

Headed out to Hauser first light and found them biting flukes good. First cast magic with a surface explosion and all. The girl got 4 pretty quick and I eventually caught up. Anywhere from the shore out to 8-10ft and around submerged trees. Things slowed a bit when the sun came out and I decided to ...

Barrett report July 8

Hi all, Got on the water at 0420 today. Slight wind making a small chop on the water then. Pedaled over to Hauser and Becky's cove for the first light, which took a while. Whole lot of nothing. Zip. Nada. Of course on my first cast I had a boil that almost pulled my kayak in, so then I was determine...

Barrett RFeport( video) Saturday 7-8

Barrett from Saturday 7-8. Morning bite a little tough for us but once they started busting in the middle of Hauser it was on. Throw into a boil and its cant miss. Better quality fish came mostly shallower. Busters lasted around 2 hours tops.Enjoy the clip I put together. https://youtu.be/7zztgKmuLzE

Barrett Personal Best! July 9th

Still working on quantity but quality is way up! Was on the lake 420 at Pine Arm by 445. Got some dropshot in the water and caught one with the stars still out! That was really fun. Then moved deeper into Pine and saw some boiling that I was able to put a white/chartreuse jackhammer on. Didn't weigh...

Chuck, I owe this success to you. It is so much fun to catch them on the crawler. Before long, I'm sure you will see me using the megabass crawler.

Barrett report July 22nd

Hello all, Barrett was a bit quiet for me today. Got on the water at 0430 as planned, pedaled over to Pine Arm with a plan to fish all the little bays and alcoves on the west side of pine arm. I also was doing a little testing and was trying some new lures and colors. Maybe I should change only one ...

Fuego!

Got to fish San V yesterday morning with SDFish member Oh Da Shiz off his boat. San V is just en fuego right now. Mostly a finesse plastic bite but they were chomping. Find the shade, find the mud, find the fish. Definitely the best local bite going that isn’t on the downlow. We ended up with ~20 fi...

Barrett report July 26th

Hello all, Barrett provided today. Here's the details though. Met Chuck at 0415 at pigs and we went our separate but similar ways, knowing we'd meet up later. At 0430 there was that light wind from the north and temp was already warm. Water temp was 80. I went to the mouth of Hauser and Becky's cove...

Good times, and request from staff

Fished last Wed and the one before, very hot, but good topwater action helps me forget about it. _____________________________ Oh, the road is in terrible shape, thought it was just me, got worse in one week, and Laurie asked me to ask YOU to petition the city to get it graded. Staff has to drive in...

Re: Good times, and request from staff

Food for thought – not really trying to rub people the wrong way or start a huge internet discussion - just giving another very important perspective. The easiest thing to do for the city is to shut it down so keep that in mind before you start blowing up the city. This is a really valid point and w...

Barrett report July 29th

Hello all, Here's my report on Barrett today. Got there at the usual time and got on the water right at 0430. Pedaled over to Hauser, and started throwing noisy topwaters in the dark. Heard some thunder and saw some flashes in the distance. Had some light rain in the dark by me. Kept working back in...

Barrett report August 5th

Hi everyone, Here's my report of the day. Woke up and was moving like a man of a much more advanced age, so it took more than the usual cup of coffee to get myself in the truck. Got on the water about 30 minutes late, But it still was dark and strangely cool out. Pedaled over to Hauser, with my basi...

8/9- Miramar again

With anticipation of hopefully more topwater action, I headed back up to Lake Miramar this morning with 3 rods rigged with topwater baits and one with a small jerk bait. The surface was pretty glassy when I arrived. Finally a few small bass stirring the top of the water. Everyone knows that by the t...

8/11- Missed opportunities are no fun

Took a rare drive with my kayak up to that lake that is 38 miles North & East of..........ok you guessed it, if you said Lake Sutherland. I decided to give it a try even though it has been really tough fishing this year for many and for me the last time I fished there months ago. I arrived and s...
