Re: What happened to the old SDFish?
It's a pity the old forum is gone, there were plenty of good information there. I'm glad that I have found the new forum though. Hopefully, over time quality fishing content becomes available here as well.

Re: Shelter island mackerel any luck?
Current ocean sport fishing regulations recommends no more than 1 serving for adult males, etc and "Do not eat" for children and women 18-49 ages due to mercury and PCB contamination

Re: Where do you buy fish and seafood in San Diego?
Tuna Harbor Dockside Market for me as well. Stuff sells out real fast so it's usually better to go at opening time (8:00 am) if possible

Re: Where do you buy fish and seafood in San Diego?
FDA recommendation is to freeze the fish. Here is the link and the relevant portion copy pasted below. That being said, I occasionally do sashimi, ceviche, poke bowl etc. from freshly caught fish as Slater mentioned even though has its risks. Before freezing the fish, pat drying with paper towels to...

8/17 North County
Went for an afternoon session throwing lures. There was pretty decent amount of salad, so switched to weedless set up quickly. First tried Torrey Pines but had no luck, saw couple other fishermen as well but did not notice any action on their rods either. Later moved further up north and got 2 decen...

2/4 North County
Before the next wave of rainstorms hit, spent a few hours late afternoon fishing from the shore. Plenty of bait stealers eating the shrimp. Eventually managed to catch 2 calicos and a perch.

5/12 session
Conditions were pretty nice so went for an afternoon session on Sunday. Salad was minimal so I tried soft plastics and luckycraft but there were no takers. Switched bait fishing with shrimp and got a short sand bass, a perch and bunch of leopard sharks. perch.jpeg sandBass.jpeg leopard1.jpeg leopard...

Re: 6/1 session
It's no skunk... Plus you got out... Red tide? Butch Went to the beach yesterday, didn't fish but the conditions were atrocious. Torrey Pines, Del Mar, Solana beach all had pretty profound red tide and awful lot of salad. Saw a few fishermen trying their luck but haven't seen anyone reeling any fish.

6/8 - 6/9
Noticed that red tide cleared from Encinitas / Cardiff area. Tried my luck both saturday and sunday afternoon / evening. Saturday I got skunked, sunday I got a sand bass. Even with weedless set up, there was plenty of salad to deal with on both days.

New Seaforth Twilight 6/23
Excited by the recent fishing reports, I booked a spot on the Twilight trip on New Seaforth. Captain mentioned occasional yellowtail catch on fly lined sardines as stick baits. On the way to the fishing grounds, captain already spotted yellowtail action, fish boiling on the surface. I was super luck...
