Re: Back to Monday Fun day!

Thanks a lot @Mcfish, really appreciate it. Great tips on the submerged trees and such. I generally fish around them but not in them. I was at SV on Monday as well and fished dropshot and jig. I probably had (literally) 15 snags with the DS which I had to retie every time. I caught a nice one in th...

Cap 5/12 - quick shore trip

Made a quick trip down to El Cap yesterday after work - arrived about 3:30pm to howling wind and whitecaps that made casting a challenge. Water level is down several feet from my last visit and the dried out slime from all the moss is covering the first few feet of bank. I went the whole session wit...

San Veeeeee 5/14

Rented a boat at San V today and a fellow SDFisher joined me for the morning. Some froggy looking water but no bites on either the frog or the buzzbait. Water is pea green soup from the grass scum - not just the surface, it’s throughout the water column in places. Plastics were the goods again. Noth...

Re: San Veeeeee 5/14

The scum from that algae on the surface in the backs of some of the coves looks really froggy but at least yesterday they were not chasing topwater at all. Threw the frog and the buzzbait but didn’t get any bites. I almost can’t remember what it’s like catching fish on a Baitcasting rig since all my...

Re: San vee 5/15

Saw that someone caught a 4.2LB redear sunfish at San V on Sunday! Buddy of mine likes to chase the big slab gills with UL gear. Looks like a ton of fun.

Re: Morning Run to El Cap 5/16

Postponed a cool windy Friday for a warm sunny Tuesday at El Cap…WRONG! This winter that won’t let go had the lake chilly and white capping by 10am today. It probably slowed whats been a decent bite but seeing the shad along the shoreline pushed us to throw spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, and flukes over ...

Re: San V...summer coming!

Yep those 8-13” thin Senko fish in the trees were the pattern for me a couple weekends ago out there. Stark difference from Cap right now, there’s Bait boiling all over in open water there.

Re: IV Canal fishing( Video)

Good stuff! My brother is visiting from Canada in a week and we are gonna be trying to find a spot on the Highline to fish, he’s a Smallie guy and has insisted we look for them while he’s here, who am I to argue?

Back to back Cap mornings

Spent my weekend at my favorite local body of water for a shore bang. Maybe the most fun weekend of the year? Both days the bite was on fire early. Saturday I managed to get some worm fish later after the moving bait bite seemed to be exhausted, but they were dinks compared to the quality fish I’d g...

8A3F1F38-116F-4514-87FB-D895E5A4DEA9.jpeg If I had to pick one color; the Green Pumpkin Purple 6” Roboworm has caught at every lake I’ve fished here. Seems to work in both clear and stained water. Any combination of brown/purple, green pumpkin/purple, green pumpkin/blue seems to be pretty universal...

Re: FS: G.Loomis NRX+ 843 MBR 7' MH/F

That was my main curiosity, it’s a fast action rod but it’s an MBR so I wasn’t sure if it was more suited for bottom contact or for reaction bait stuff. Its good enough as a bottom contact rod for me. Better than the champ xp anyway. I can probably survive with this one rod for all my style of bass...

Re: FS: G.Loomis NRX+ 843 MBR 7' MH/F

Been curious about megabass stuff, but I'm always on the hunt for versatility. Maybe now I can start testing out technique specific rods. I doubt I'll try another nrx. This is a good overview of some of Megabass’ most versatile models. Really the only one they left off this list is Tequila Baccarac...

Re: Anybody Fishing Afternoons?

I’ve definitely had some luck in the afternoons recently at my favorite lake. Wolfpacks cruising the shoreline on the tiny bait that’s plentiful. Also the fry guarders making their rounds. Have had success in spots other than my normal fave too, exploring more of the south end of the lake on foot lo...

Re: Anybody Fishing Afternoons?

Also: if you’re on a boat you can get to all the best spots on the lake that shore bangers can’t. I feel like it’d for sure be worth your time. How fast they chase you off seems to depend on who the ranger is closing up. There’s a lady who will definitely chase everyone off a little early, the dude ...
