Re: First time at El Cap
Wow, looks like a great day on the Cap. Looks more like San V wind than Cap! It was definitely howling down there in the afternoon/evening yesterday. White caps when we pulled up to the lake about 345. Saw fish in all 3 spawning stages yesterday. Pretty soon it’s gonna be time to throw topwater in ...

First float at Otay
Brother and I took the float tubes down to Otay today. We got there a little later than normal and it was 8ish before we got in the water. Weightless worms along the tule lines in Harvey’s were the meal ticket today. Think I spent exactly 3 casts on other baits all morning. Started off with a little...

Cap float 5/12
Took the tubes out to Cap this morning. Mother’s Day had the lake pretty empty early! Only a couple of boat trailers and my brother and I in the tubes. Immediately started throwing my favorite bladed bait around shallow brush. Got the most action where there was brush in the back of cuts and coves. ...

Re: Cap float 5/12
Spinnerbait fish are a lot of fun. My favorite spinnerbaits normally get replaced when the wire breaks at the line tie and all I get back are the blades=) For a time there I really liked the Terminator baits, but I have even had those break, but rarely. Way to get out there! These are pretty light ...

Re: Cap float 5/12
Some shore fun. Got a new dropshot rod so I respooled, threw my terminal and some plastics in a small pack and grabbed a water bottle and headed down.. not like I needed an excuse to go or anything lol. Got there about 5pm, hiked down further toward the Dam than usual. About 545 I got 3 in 5 casts. ...

Re: Good to be back to the V.
This is definitely the time of year you could bring nothing but a package of size 2 EWG hooks and a couple packages of thin senkos to San V and just pick apart that shallow brush. Watching your line move and then working to get that fish the hell out of the bushes makes for a lot of fun.

FLOATay Sat 5/18
Some Otay morning action in the tubes today. Brother and I have effectively starting calling it “FLOATay” because it’s such a float tube friendly lake. Lots of good spots to launch and fish there. Every trip I’ve taken down there I’ve encountered quite a few tubers as well. How was the fishing? We l...

SDFish party at D&K??!!
Decided to make my first trip out to what is known here at “the lake of D&K” in 30 years this morning. As fate would have it, turned into an SDFish party out there! I only fished till about 10am but ended up with 5 landed and 3 lost. Worm fish all of them except for one. Will definitely return t...

Catching up
Been a minute since I posted! Band stuff has kept me busy lately but I have still been out fishing my normal places - Cap and Otay are where I’ve spent the most time but also got a Hodges trip in. Otay has been business as usual for my brother and I. Flyline plastics along the tile line and for me -...

Re: Catching up
Band stuff? I essentially retired from my last band (classic rock/drums) because I’d rather go fishing 😂 Thanks as always for the 411. Man that lost fish had to hurt but you do know where she and her brothers and sisters live. I love having just the right amount of water into the tules to get a fli...
