Re: El Cap 3-29 Report

Similar tonight to last night. Picked up one little 10” male about 5:15pm and tacked on a 3 pounder on my last cast of the day at 6:55.

Re: Catch & Release and Harvesting During the Spawn

I’m not a fan of anglers harvesting fish during the spawn, that’s just my personal opinion, but to camobass’ point, it’s their legal right and it’d be really difficult to regulate. On top of that, I see lots of guys fish the local lakes without even purchasing their permits. If the rangers don’t hav...

First time in the tube! Murray 4/6

Weather finally cooperated and bro and I finally got to take the float tubes out for their maiden voyage. We figured Murray would be a great place to start as it’s a smaller body of water. We launched about 8am and basically just kicked a lap around the lake starting in Padre cove fishing along the ...

Re: First time in the tube! Murray 4/6

Your rods leaning over must be annoying. Probably need a bungee to go from the bottom of the rack under the tube to the D-ring on the opposite side. Having to readjust your seat is pretty normal. Getting things dialed in is part of the challenge. I built a stabilizer bar for it that connects to a p...

Re: Catch & Release and Harvesting During the Spawn

I would like to jump in on this and offer a little info. I talked to the guys that do the population studies at the lakes. They shock at night when the bass have moved into the shallower water from spending their day in the deep water. The bass float, they scoop, measure, weigh and then release the...

Re: First time in the tube! Murray 4/6

I got my first float tube in 1981, and still doing it. Had a bass boat, inflatable dingy, kayak, and I just keep coming back to the tube. With the Bixpy motor underneath it I don't even have to worry about the wind. To me, it's the perfect fishing platform. That having been said, even after all the...

Re: First time in the tube! Murray 4/6

I’d be super interested to see your Bixpy setup sometime! He is a Lake Murray 360 days a year....ha ha. (Just messing with you @Dannicus :-) I mentioned to you when we were chatting that I was kind of surprised we didn’t run into Dannicus at Murray Saturday, but it’s sure to happen soon I fish Murr...

Re: First time in the tube! Murray 4/6

Sounds fun but I got a family commitment this weekend. A day off fishing means I still have a relationship.... although.... No I'd better do the family thing 😂 It was pretty fun! Can’t wait to go back to Hodges. Got a puncture in the tube (crankbait got spit close to me and the back hook ended up i...

4/21 afternoon sesh at Cap

Wrapped up the weekend in my favorite place, doing my favorite thing. Weather was absolutely gorgeous. Wind was pretty gnarly on and off for the whole afternoon. Some observations: water level is still going up. It had been about 10 days since my last visit and stuff I was standing on then is underw...

Re: 4/21 afternoon sesh at Cap

Boy you weren’t kidding about the wind! We got a late start which meant we only missed the first hour of cold, damp gusts from the east. When that finally settled around 9, we expected about an hour or two of that usual sunny calm before the westerlies kick in. Nope! It was westerly gusts almost ri...

Re: 4/21 afternoon sesh at Cap

Split shot is pretty snag free. Get either smooth ball or clam shots. You can always peg an egg sinker if you’re worried about pinching the line. Bill Murphy had a great technique crimping the split shot on the tag end of your line then running it up and down the line to wear a smooth groove in the...

Re: Mo's amazing thing at El Cap 4/22

That is an awesome story! I’m gonna try to get down there this afternoon/evening if work cooperates. Had to put in a 13 hour day yesterday so couldn’t make my normal Monday night run. Can’t wait to get my tube out there this weekend

Re: Mo's amazing thing at El Cap 4/22

There’s at least one lake in SoCal where you can legally fish for Shad and use them as bait.. but the snagging thing is still illegal
